Very nice! I see the spring in front of the axle, am I right? Do you still have a drop axle, and what are the bones out of? I want one just like that! Oh, I got one, I just got to make it look like that. It will be a long time but you give me inspiration.

Car looks great, love the nailhead.
Can't help feeling you'll need more than a tetanus shot when you realise that rear brakes only wont stop the car worth a damn.

    Looks great!

Im interested in how well it handles and tracks on the highway with those tires? Does it want to wander? I have radials on the front and bias ply on the back and I can tell when driving on city roads, but not on the highway.

Also, how about stopping w/o front brakes? Is it scary? I dont think I would run one w/o the front brakes as they do 70% of the stopping power of a car as I understand it. But, since you already know, please let us know so we can learn.

Theres a lot of guys not paying attention here. He already stated the he had the front brakes and it was one of the details needed to finish the car.
That aside, great job, When are you and Rolf going on tour? :D

sorry for the late response i had no idea this had gotten drug back to the top.

the car steers great, its got a vega box and drives very straight, havent had any problems with the tires, just the normal quirks that you get with bias-plys. from what i understand it is a bad idea to run radials in the front and bias in the rear but the other way around is ok.

and the fron brake thing? yeah its stops alright, but you have to put it into perspective, the car weighs aprox 2k lbs and the rear brakes are out of a car the weighed probably about 3 times that much. i understand that it will stop better with front brakes but like i have said over and over again front brakes are going on it.

i would love to see my car parked next to Rolf's, his car is way out of my league in the fabrication and quality department, but i feel both of our cars share the same spirit.

for more on the debate on this car having no front brakes by people who didnt pay attention and didnt take the time to read why the car has no front brakes and that i stated front brakes were going on it and the lack of them was a temporary thing, go here

on another note, the car has been sitting in the garage for most of the time since completion as i had engine problems (valve not seating) and i have been saving up the $ to have the machine work done on the heads. so it still doesnt have front brakes yet and the last time i really took it further than a block from my house was to the mooneyes show.

but i am happy to report that i am planning on pulling the heads tomorrow or monday to take them in for machining and while i have it apart for that im going to finally put the front brakes on. so i hope that will be the end of the controversy of the little blue coupe with no front brakes haha.

heres a couple of newer shots for you

  25. Glad your putting front brakes on it, you can't go fast if you cant slow down.

yeah its mine too, i drove it for the first time in a long time today (since the hit and run in front of my house), looking at the damage and the fact that i lost the rear window, on top of all the other issues with the body i decided it needs a make-over bad! that and the fact that i finally have some cash set aside, i just have decide on a color

    you bringing the Boattail?
