It is on That site ... :)

You can almost hear the poor sedan begging to be shed of all the gaudy circus/carnival paint that it has suffered with for over 30 years. A little paint stripper, sand paper and some primer sealer along with a rim/tire change would go a LONG way ...

Tucson AZ is a little too far for me to go to save it ... :)

Man, that's a period piece. The 80's were the reason Boyd's cars looked so good in the 90's. Now that the Jethro Bodine era is finally over, we can get back to the wonderful early 60's again.

To each their own. I'd leave the circus paint.

:D Damn, I think I remember this car, My Dad was stationed at Davis Monthon in the 70's, :) As gaudy and down right scary as it is:eek: I think if I could buy it I would have to redo it just like it sets, the 70's need to be preserved also. I can't remember the last time I saw a car built like this one. which is good thing! But I think I would redo her just the way she is

That car is a good excuse to break out the polyester suits.
    Definitely needs to be saved.

    Sweet Jesus my eyes!

Man was that guy on some kinda acid trip or what? I dont think I ever seen anything that old panel painted. I always have seen 64 Chevies and the like but not a 30's Ford.

i wonder if its got shag carpet for the floors as well as the "mint" door panels. i agree that it should be preserved (silly as it looks, it is part of the history of the culture), but i salute anyone who would practice what i preach in this case, because that paint is horrendous!

I would like to own it and change it ... but the 3W is just sitting ... :( and I am working on the roadster ... trying to fix the damage it got in Memphis ... so I can be ready to cruise in it ... so there is NO WAY I could do the sedan the justice it deserves ...

I'd repaint it the same way it is now. Kinda nice to see something different every once in a while. History repeats itself, so jump on it now so you can say I was into that before it became popular again. LOL

I wonder if there is a matching "custom van" available somewhere?

It is "history", so preserving it wouldn't be the worse thing. I don't know that I could bring myself to sand or strip all that fancy work off the car....but I definately KNOW I couldn't bring myself to re-do it like that.

I suppose a nice set of good photographs before teardown would preserve it just as well though.

    Deuce Roadster,

:( This car is a abomination and is just begging to be redone and give it back its dignity. You would have to be off your meds or on acid to drive this car as is, its a clown car and a clown would love it.

  24. 30 years from now there will be another website (or whatever they will call the five-dimensional replacement by then) lamenting how these 1970s survivors were trashed by the traditional movement.

That said -- yes, that paint has got to go. To quote a Motor Trend (or was it Car and Driver) critique of a particularly gaudy Pace Car 'Vette... "That thing looks like a jock-strap covered with blue and yellow feathers."

  25. I've seen this car in person!!! It was stored at a friend's shop here in stockton about 7/8 years ago. Has'nt changed. Full on 70's job. I allways dug the accetelene treatment on the hood. It ran... like shit. But that can be fixed. Lotsa 70's mods. Can't remember the interior.

I asked my 16 year old son as I was curious what he thought. He said "man, that's cool".

The '70's are the new '50's bro, leave it alone.

At least it's not primer grey or black.

A true "Street Freak" There ain't many left, and it's really unusual to see that type of paint on a 32. Save it as is...a real piece of history...

  30. That was built by Howdy Ledbetter, the upholsterer from Fremont Ca. It had every color of pearl known to man. When he built it, it was the shit! Howdy also built the Ala Cart clone. His cars are always built first class, but are a little "different" Dean
