Sand casting @ home???

I have been researching the sand casting process here lately. Not saying that I am an expert or even a wannabe. Just lookin into it. Has anyone made some good casts? Ya know something that you would actually tell someone you made! Also where would be a good place to research the Shrinking rates/sizes of different metals?? Thanks guys, TATT
