This is my first step in to mopar land,I've been tossing around ideas on which way to go with it.I'm thinkin 60's custom, moons etc.I'm gonna leave it stock for now, just drive it., maybe a 318/t5 combo later. It says overdrive on the trunk but I can't seem to make it work,I'm not sure if it's the original ******. Can any of you mopar guys school me on these cars? I need to find replacement floorboards and hopefully patch panels for the lower rear door area. This car has radio and heater delete,I'd like to find a heater for it if anyone has one.
    Thanks, Rob

I don't know anything about those, but from the experience I've had with my '56, rocker panels might be available, but I'd be surprised if there are many patch panels available. Try Ebay, I've found some stuff there. You might find a fairly rust-free donor car. Good Luck!

I have a 54 Savoy, welcome to the oddball mopar club.
There is a company making re-pop panels for them, but offhand i cant think of the name, though I'm sure someone on here knows em.

Let me know when you do the swap. I have a little flathead six as well, but I'm probably gonna keep it and I've been looking for an overdrive trans...

Very cool. If I found one of those, I'd be all over it. I've got a 440/Torqueflite combo that absolutely begs for a '53-'56 Mopar to wrap around it. You just don't see enough of those cars built.

    Good luck,

    Dave

I've got a heater setup, $1500 and it comes with a '53 cranbrook as well as a '54 Savoy parts car.

  9. Welcome to the MOPAR club. Depending on how good the motor is, there's quite a bit of speed equipment available for your flathead. It won't be the fastest, but it could be one of the coolest- dual carbs, headers, duals with gl***-packs ( 6 in-a-row with gl***-packs = sweet ), etc.

I have a 53 Dodge. I think I remember reading in the owners manual that there is a cable under the dash that you pull and then when you shift into 3rd you let off the gas and there will be a "clunk" and you will be in overdrive. Just floor the gas to down shift to third. There are a lot of people wanting those overdrives because they make the six very drivable. Mine screams at 70 Mph without it.
Heres a pic of mine before I took it apart. I'm sure everyone has seen it a million times before.

Tighten all the connections, clean terminals, & make sure the OD gear lube is full - your trans has 2 fill plugs. Many of the B-W ODs are run dry if the rear seal leaked - refilling will sometimes free up the insides & get it working again. The relay has a fuse, & sometimes the relay contacts stick. A wiring diagram is a good thing ...
Read a factory owner's manual to learn more about how to use it - most rodders use a remotely mounted kickdown for better control.
