I stumbled across a couple salvage yards I had not been to and snapped some pics while I was there. I don't know why I awlays enjoy scavenging through these places. I guess you never know what you might stumble across.
Looks like the motherlode of F-1 brake parts there. That 3W in the background of the A coupe picture looks decent too.
Anything he had stored inside in one of his sheds was not going anywhere. The first 7 or 8 pictures are from a seperate yard than the rest. All of those trucks are going to be crushed in the next couple months.
The one without a chassis? It's an International KB series. They were produced well up into the 40's like that. Man, there's a ton of good stuff out there, you could make yourself a healthy profit picking some of those trucks clean before they're crushed, plus you'd be saving some valueable, hard to find shit. I'd buy a set of drums and backing plates off of one of those early 50's F-1 trucks if you want to go pull them off. {Hey! The multi-quote feature kicks ass! Easier than cutting and pasting in a bunch of replies and having to bracket them. Very cool}
About the only thing I am familiar with on those trucks are the steering boxes that we all seem to run. If some of you here want to give me some direction as to what would be worth spending the time to pull, I might be willing to go and save what I can. I don't need to make a healthy profit but it would need to be worth my time. I hate to see something get melted down when someone else could use it, but at the same time, I hate to fork over money to the guy and be stuck with parts I can't use. Give me a shopping list and what its worth and I'll see if I can get a deal out of him. I think he said he was getting $6 for 100lbs so I think he would be reasonable to deal with. He told me he has crushed 31,000 lbs in the past 3 months so no telling what I missed.
How about the old coupe stock car racer? Slated for crushing? If you get word to a "local" vintage racing club, I'm sure someone would want to save that car.
damn i spent 3 months up there around lake martin, and all over from birmingham to montgomery. I roamed and roamed that state lookin for yards and never found shit. maybe I just don't know where to look there, but that is a hell of a find. You should make him a hell of an offer onthose trucks, buy or rent you a piece of land and putthem onit if for nothing to keep them from goin to the scrapper, or to sell them and make you a nice profit.
