Helped alot actually. What is that mystery-rod hanging out of the side of the body? Shifter? Brakes? Speedo? Those bodies look like they were hammered and shaped out of flat aluminum and riveted together. No real detail at all. I'm guessing the Crossmember acts as a foot prop.
Looks like it may get a little rear tire rubbing in a corner too and nice motor meter on the radiator.
Cool "G***ER" dude! And check out the little girls head growing out of his right elbow Must be Arkansas meet they meat themselves coming and going! Edit: And what the hell is the shifter for on the outside of the car? Sorry if someone addressed that early.
he looks so damn proud dosn't he? looks like he's holding sungl***es in his right hand, i guess he wanted to make sure everyone knew it was him and not some famous hot rod builder......that little girl is freaking me out.
It's not on the outside. You see the creepy shrunken lil' girl head? Yep, that's how they used to do it. Cut em' off and stick em' on baby!
Man I been re-creating this masterpiece for the Petersen Museum. Its gonna take pride of place. I think it will be a shue in at Pebble Beach to...............
I don't think there's anything left to say about this beauty. Is that actually a Crosley frame or something else? I'm thinking like '25 Chevy or something. -Dave
One of my customers has a giant collection of...well everthing! Here is Mrs. Scary standing in from of the same kind of thing that was built a little better.
Well, I like it, because that was the way allot of cool things were done back then, and yet today. Label it what you want, be it's called Hot Rodding in my book. My Dad ( now 80) and his buddies made all kinds of contraptions back in the day out of what ever they could find....and had a blast doing it and driving them.
The guy looks a little like the kid from the Munsters. I now know where the idea of racing lawnmowers comes from...
Did you guys ever see the little tiny 1-person plywood boats they built back in the 40's, not much bigger than today's jet-skis, and they put flatheads in them. Pretty nuts, but I'll bet they were fun.
No, these were seriously way smaller than that. The outer perimiter of the boat was just big enough to hold one guy, with a V8-60 behind him. It didn't look like it would even float. I saw an old article on it, they were selling the plans in popular mechanics.
Ya'll can say what you want, but I like it. This is not a rat rod BUILT to be unsafe and to have the "Look". The owner likely built the roadster out of parts he had lying around, got for free or whatever and undoubtedly had fun with it. Isn't that '50s traditional? It sure is to me
