I vote to keep it and like others said even it out and put on a clear coat. I like the idea of the ivory wheels and stripping.

I was thinking about the gloss also, but the car still needs alittle more block sanding to carry a gloss and be perfect. I also still have a bunch more work on it, so it's going to get beat up alittle.

So the plan is to bring it back and then make it glossy next winter.

I have a set of steelies I may try the ivory for a different look, i like the chrome idea too......maybe nickle plate them and then some clearcoat.

I am using a stock style seat that will be done in distressed brown leather and the arm rest pads. The rest of the interior will be bare for now.

I am also nickle plating all the garnish mouldings along with some other interior items.

Again thanks for the comments. It is going to stay the color it is.

Oh damn I was supposed to vote...

  7. If your going to re-paint it why not have some fun? I know the rat rod dickheads have made it a little hokey but give it some WWII SWPTO markings on it. Do a little research and make em accurate and tastefully and it could be cool until it gets to be all shiny and black??

  8. I'd leave it and I don't even like blue. It loks good on the car in those pics, now out in the sun might be a totally different story.

Keep the blue, run chrome steel wheels with redline or blueline tires. Done.

LEEEEAAAAVE IT! The ivory or cream would be safe, but where's the fun in that? Leave the wheels glossy black, no trim rings, just caps.
The blackety black wheels pops out the blue on the body. The cream color would only make the DARK blue look that much more like black, know what I mean?!

you have to change it...it looks just like the blue on my kids wagon!!..but if you clear over it with a heavy dose of blue pearl it would look even better!!!

  16. Keep it like that! Wont be many around in that cool color anyway...

  17. I agree, but the mob seems to want people not to have fun and/or be creative, and gawd forbid some overly critical sombitch might flap their internet gums and upset an applecart.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

It seems we all strive to be different, yet the same. Park yours in a sea of black cars and guess which one stands out? I voted leave it blue.

    Leave it like it is.

  22. I vote leave it, as others have said, with really basic striping and steelies, it will look a lot cooler than a fair amount of the glossy's out there, and you may end up liking the blue for a gloss color.

Personally, I like it because on first inspection, you think..."oh...another flat-black car."

But then on closer inspection (which I'm sure would be more than obvious out in the sun) you think "hmm. Dark blue. Different!"

Since others have mentioned the wheels...

To me, the black wheels will be lost. They should be an accent. I also think red is over-done like others have mentioned. How about something more along the lines of platinum-gold color? Not gold gold...something with a bit more silver that still retains a bit of a gold hue. I think that would go well with the dark blue color.

Something along the lines of Zenith Gold:

    Classy. Maybe?
