is there anyone on here from colorado? if so can anybody do a chop i dont wanna attempt it myself, well let me know thanks
Yeah, bunches of us ColoRODo guys here...where are you? Plenty of places around that can do that for you... What are you chopping and how much you wanna spend...??? R-
From CO also. Reister's Rod Shop in Denver can chop Number is 303-761-9358, Ask for Dennis They do great work, even helped on Chip Foose's F100 awhile back.
well it's a '51 chevy tudor sedan (master deluxe) i wanna lay the back window an chop it about 7 inches in back 6 in front, maybe more i wanna pretty extreme lookin chop, i talked to bob at ATOMIC AGE KUSTOMS an he said roughly 4,000$ any guys around that are at home mechanics that would do it for way less than that but have good work? is that possible hahah?
yes bob is a real cool dude, most knowledgeable builder i've ever met, i might end up just havin him do the chop but, i wanna save some money an maybe learn a thing or to while doin it i hear chops especially on boats like mine are very hard to do
Let's see a picture of the proposed radical kustom. Is it a good running driving car now? I've seen lots of cars get cut up and never finished because guys blow their wad on metal work when the car is just a worn out pig. Chopping the top won't make the worn out suspension or loose motor any better. Is it worthy? too much caffiene today...little edge'y
i can see that, its not exactly road worthy yet im in the process of putting on a mustang two front clip an baggin it with the fatman ultra low, so i have an entirely new suspension but like you said it aint drivin yet, i just wanna count my eggs before they hatch, if you know what i mean just be on the safeside i'd like to get a few quotes from people around
good point, i wanna chop it myself but im to afraid to really destroy my car i'll try it on some shitpile i find for free but not on somethin i spent money, thanks for the advice guys
Yup I'm stuck in Colorado too . As for chopping your car ,get yourself to some night classes for welding and bodywork.Read up on some of the 'how to' tech threads on chopping .Do the research on it and chop it yourself. then spend the money you saved on a decent paint job.
Good point, my friend. Get 'er running first & make sure you like the car before committing too hard. Not trying to talk myself out of a job here, but I'd rather see someone happy with the outcome rather than driving an expensive compromise. --Bob
hey, nobody told me. waitaminute, there must be a REASON nobody told me everybody is moving, now i know why nobody picks up the phone when i call!
Excellent advice and means even more when it comes from the shop that gave the quote. Your a standup guy for sure.
ratso from alamosa , co. .....plenty of time to work on projects when it`s -25 below zero out ...wouldn`t change it for nothin ! colorado dudes send pics of there toys !! ratso
Sounds like you're on the right path. Nothing worse then spending ALL your money and realizing the car won't get done. Get 'er on the road and then drive it over to Bob's for a haircut. Maybe do little stuff first, shaved handles, trim. couple 15" subs..oops watched Whips last night.
