The black one is a 6" chop, and the rusty one got 5" cut out of the top last week.

 

For good looks and forward visibility a chop of 3-5" is good.
6-8" gets into the restricted vision arena and the bottom car on a six-car stack in the boneyard look.
If a guy wants to really drive his car, as in daily to work and weekends to work and to the market and the movies and the drugstore, a guy should think a little more about practical majic than about lakes racecar specs.

Here is a picture of mine. Chopped 4" all the way around, 4" bell on a posies "in da dirt" front spring.
