    Hey guy's and girls,
Well, I thought I would post a few shots of the car I been work on/driving this summer. It's a car I have had for a few years but just got to working on. I know the g***er theme is hot right now but this is the way I like them, kinda a hybreed g***er/street machine. It runs a 283 sbc too a muncie 4-spd, 4:10 posi, ball joint spacers w/ heavy springs. Next up is some sort of traction bar/ladder bar. As far as paint, it will happen sooner or later. I'm still in the build process with the drive train. Once that is done, I will probably paint it.

yea man. looks great, I'd like to also know what ball joint spacers you used, 2 inch or 4 inch and what springs did you use?

    Thanks, Duke

  8. Hi Jason, I didn't realize you were on the H.A.M.B. I sure do like your 57! Like yourself, g***er style cars are not a trend for me. Your 57 has a very authentic 60's streeet/strip look to it. Did you get the valve covers I sent? .See you next time you're out west!

    Hey Their Guy's,
Wow, thanks for all the kind words! I have been having a real blast with the car... it's really the most car I've ever owned/built. I know it been awhile since I've been on the h.a.m.b. I do apologise for the questions I have left unanswered... My job has kept me on the road for the last few months. Anyway as for the question about the ball joint spacers, I just bought the ones that are always on ebay. And as they say, they did install really easy. I think they are the 2" ones. It's been awhile, I don't think I would have gone for 4" ones... I think that may stack up too high for safety sake. As for the springs I went with 1955-1957 chevy front springs for a big block swap. They are suppose to give a car with a big block a stock ride height... but with a small block and the spacers it actually lifts the car to the full extention. I think I will be changing them though... because if they sit completely extended, how much transfer do you get.... so I think I will be using the lakewood drag coils, they are longer than stock and softer giving you faster lift and more height. However I think I will loose the nose high stance when it's parked.
    Thanks
    -Jason

Good idea on the drag coils. Do you have plans for the rear suspension? I plan to redo my '57 this year. hope to get it to hook up.

  15. GREAT job you are doing there! :D

    Hey Guy's/Gals
Anyone have any tips for rear suspension? I want to get max weight transfer, so I'm planning for shock re-location and 50/50 shock..... any tips as far as leaf springs? And also what are the best (cheap/effective) traction bars out their?

    Thanks again!

******* bars are cheap, effective - Cal-Trac's or Slide-A-Link's are great for launching - but they're a couple hundred bones...

Tricks - look at the old "super stock" leaf spring setups (long front / short rear), also move the axle forward as much as you can in the wheel well (re-drill pin in main leaf) as well as relocate as much weight to the rear (battery, etc.)

    nice looking 57

  20. I have some ******* bars if you need them I may be getting some Ansen Ground Grabbers soon. They look and work great! I used to run them on my 56. You put a bolt in that rear hole when you want to go racing.........

Cool Old Car!!! Love the look. Check out my link to some more 55-57 g***er stuff that will probably turn your crank. Love the 283 engine too. Guys can rag on small blocks all they want, but the 283-327 engines are just as vintage cool as the other stuff.

I have a friend who has a complete 283 he keeps threatening to give me, but hasn't pulled the trigger yet. I keep working him cause it needs to go in a 29 Tudor!

    Thanks for postin your pics.

Just a quick update, I just got a set of traction bars from Kiwi Kev. They are mint! I will post a few pics when I can get it over to my dad's place, up on his lift. Anybody have any thoughts as too a good intake to run...
    Thanks Jason

I think you mean short in the front and long towards the rear......Mopars come factory this way (although Mopar has stiffer "Super Stock" springs available as well for drag racing)....the short front eliminates wheel hop and the need for traction bars....really 'plants' the tires....

Cool '57......my fav of the tri-5's........:)
