Where can you get a 2x1 intake manifold for a Ford 2.3? i've looked all over the place. Is this something that will be custom made? i've seen a picture of an Edelbrock manifold on here somewhere. Any info would be great!

i'm looking at converting a '88 mustang lx 2.3 EFI to carb. i like the dual carb look and thought i'd ask the experts.

    Thanks

You could make an adapter that bolt's up tothe EFI intake.

You can buy four barrel intakes for these engines that accept standard, square-flange Holley carbs. You could then use a dual Stromberg/Holley 94 adapter to run two vintage two barrels on the 4v intake if you want to do so without running Webers or making your own intake.

The cool thing about the 2.3 Ford is that it revs to the moon and responds well to performance upgrades! Back in high school, a buddy of mine built a nasty little 2.3 litre Ford for his Mustang and backed it up with a T5 trans and 4.10 gears. When he let me drive it for the first time, I looked down at the factory tach in the dash (that went to 6000 rpm) and asked him when I should shift it. He said "Just burry the tach and shift when it feels right...or when it stops pulling...you can't hurt it!".

Ha Ha...the car was never as fast as my Chevelle...but it was always a blast to drive!!

  8. Yeah.....what Mac said. Nobody makes an intake to mount a Weber side-draft on a Pontiac Iron Duke so I built this.

    Yours would be even simpler.

Hopefully, the intake picture attached. But this is the intake i was referring to. I'm sure these are hard to find.

Anything that resemples this setup would be what i'm looking for. Would something like this be hard to make?

Thanks for all the input so far!

Almost two years ago I got mine off ebay. Might want to check there every so often.

  12. That is a picture I posted. I bought the manifold off ebay. It's for a 2.0. I don't know if it was made for a 2.3

i bought the 2.3 engine and 2 identical completely redone Holley 94's. what i am planning on doing is using the stock efi intake and "knife edge" the ports for better flow. i'm going to use a 1" aluminum Flat open plate to make an adapter to fit a Vintage Speed 2x2 to 4v adapter to. the Holleys will be on top of course. any flaws in this setup?

i'm looking at the progressive linkage setup. In the new Holley 94's, the primary has a 7.5 power valve while the secondary has a 3.5. would i need matching power valves or does this already suit a progressive setup?

any suggestions or comments would be great.

    Thanks!!

I have mentioned it before but these are great motors. I am running one in one of my cars with a blow through turbo intercooled setup and the power is super. A friend has one in a track roadster with a sidedraft manifold that we made that is n/a. Super reliable and great power. Plus a T-5 bolts right up. If you use the SVO bellhousing and make you own pilot bearing you can use the larger 5.0 trans.

  15. Try bouncing your question off Bob. This is his specialty, remind him you will be going naturally aspirated, although you should really think turbo.
