It's just the little Things that piss me off ever noticed how when your finishing up a project that it is the littlest things that always seem to be so damm difficult and time consuming trying to get my sedan finished up so i can put a few miles on it before roundup and dammit i spent 11 1/2 hours working on it saturday about 5 hours tonight and at least two a night the nights in between and damm if you just look at the car it looks exactely the same as it did saturday before the 11 1/2 hours running tranny cooler hoses, hooking up wires to gauges, gas tank, brakelight switch mounting gas pedal fabricating throttle linkage you know shit like that spent 2 1/2 hours tonight just fabricating throttle linkage and the damm thing doesnt even work like i want it too but im on the downhill slope now all thats left is finish throttle linkage bolt flywheel to torq converter fix a broken brake spring in rear drum bleed brakes adjust lifters tighten down intake & valve covers fill radiator with antifreeze/water stick distributor and hook up plug wires hook up starter solinoid and distibutor wires attach speedo cable to speedometer fill with gas put license plate on & hook up wire for light run wire from switch and hook up horn and fire it up, back out of garage and cruise it around the block god dammm i cant wait hoping to get majority of this crap done tomarrow(friday) and do the firing up, running in motor, fining tuning and a lil cruising on sunday maybe even a big ol smokey burn out just for shits and giggles
I got the same problem. I had to work outside, (no garage). Damn weather went to shit in Jan and Feb. Now I have to tear most of it down and replace all the mock-up stuff with the right stuff. Like the aluminum bolts I grabbed for a fast mock-up fit have to be replaced with good grade steel bolts. Then the clean up. From sitting outside, all the dust that blew up into the engine and frame that got mixed with moisture and turned to mud has to be cleaned off. One time consuming, nit-picky thing after another. If you need help, I'm down here in Elmendorf. Gimme a yell.
Shit, I wouldn't be bitchin, bro. You're almost there! Unlike some of us who are a LONG way from seeing their baby on the road. It's all in how you look at it. Try seeing it from my perspective. I'd be psyched if that's all I had left to do. In fact, congradugoddamnlations on being so close!! I'm jealous as hell, and not ashamed to admit it.
Well at least you guys have time to work on your rides. The way things have been going aroun dhere since november, the only way I will get to mine is when I move outta this hell hole Corpus Christi to San Antonio. Once I am up there it won't take long to get settled in. I hope to have a house with some land, and a good sized shop. I have enough tools and crap to fill a 40x40 garage with out any vehicles in it. Oh yeah the wifey said I could buy a lift for the garage too when we move. yippeeeeee. Now if these damn mortgage companies would get off their asses and give her what she is worth we would be there a hell of alot sooner What area of SA outskirts do you guys reccomend? I have a chance to get some land up around medina, in bandera county for a good price. WE had been thinking somewhere on the north or north west side outside of 1604 side of town, but seems like land on the southside is alot more reasonable. Any thoughts? Thanks
man if it was me id jump on that medina/bandera area its all got its ups and downs but medina/bandera has beautiful scenery but you get to fight the damm cedar but the scenery is to die for southside of san antonio even in the outskirts out past 1604 i wouldnt do that if ya paid for the land and gave it to me just my preferance of land around san antonio lots of red dirt in the south pain in the ass get everywhere kinda like at the coast and the scenery isnt all that to me san antonio is like the border between the hill counrty and the desert parts of texas north of town out towards medina/bandera is good nice hilly landscape (beautiful)and south of town is nasty desert landscape (not so beautiful) just my thoughts
Spent 4 hours just looking for hardware that 2 months ago I organized so I wouldnt loose it.....and I only work out of a 2car garage.....maybe today Ill actually get something done
sinner dawg i hear ya 2 car garage here too and i can set something down and 15 mins later look for it ha that'll take at least another 30 mins
Know the feeling sinner, Today I was sitting on the ground to do a little wiring on the headlights only to discover that I plopped my fat ass on a red ant hill. Later, I bent over the fender for an hour scratching my ant bitten ass trying to figure out what I did yesterday. My wife came back from the store with a nice big, hot cup of Starbucks coffee, which I immediately dropped. At that point I went back to bed, figured I'd try again later. Good thing I didn't go to help saoutlaw.
Make up a list of all the things you have left to finish on the car and tape it too your toolbox. When you finish a job mark it off the list. This will help you keep things organized and also show you what kinda progress you're making. When you feeling overwhelmed just look at what you have accomplished. It helps me to know what I've finished even though I can't see it. Above all don't half ass something just to get the car on the road...you will regret it later. There will always be more car shows to go to so don't be getting all frustrated if you don't get it on the road in time for this one. Remember quality work won't come back and bite you in the ass later. Unless you're like me....then just kill yourself and be done with it!!!
I stayed up for 2 days straight getting all the little things done on my truck, so I could drive to a club bbq. I made it, drank a few beers, ate some pig and passed out in a lawn chair after about an hour. ahh good times.....
it is the little things that make you crazy, you spend hours polishing stainless bolts (most that are never really seen) hooking all the little stuff up, routing wires, making clips, running lines etc... then you run something else & a couple of other things you just finished need to be unhooked & rerouted & you end up doing alot of things twice..... - it drives you nuts. it all adds up to ALOT of time. 'A-LOT of time!
Yep....Was just thinking the same thing this morning...Took me 6 hrs. today to run a few lines and solder and run a few wires...But this is the point some guys get frustrated and start rushing things....Not a good idea....This is the time to pay close attention to details
