What to see in Costa Mesa Cal. this week?

My son is spending this week in Costa Mesa at the Vespa school. Anything to check out on the Hot Rod scene? Says his motel is 6 miles from the airport and will probably take a cab to get around, so anything worth the cab fair? He works at the Harley dealership here locally which just bought a Vespa franchise. He's a 22 year old motorhead who's raced motorcycles his whole life, owns a cool 59 chevy truck, LT1 powered, slammed, flat black,etc.... any info. appreciated.

 

If he is there on Sat AM and does not mind getting there early - 6:30ish - Adams and Nagnolia in neighboring Huntington Beach is a great weekly gathering of a few bikes and mostly cars called "Doughnut Derelicts." Fun time.

If they still run Speedway bikes at The fairgrounds in Costa Mesa on Saturday nights this is a MUST SEE!!

 

Are they still running this time of the year? Funny you should mention speedway, we've been out of it here on the east coast for a few years but my son won the US open east championship when he was 18. He would love to at least check out the fairgrounds.
He's going to try and get to the doughnut derelicts too.
