im trying to match the semi gloss that a truck had when it was originally painted. would this be considered egg shell or semi gloss? im planning on shooting it in single stage, just need to know what this is considered. i know its not completely flat. thanks.
You can add a dulling agent to the paint, but I would do a few test panels before you try it on the truck.
Hey, The term "Egg Shell" is a house wife term that's crept inta the industry to sell product to DIYs....... Ya got Semi and Mat, aside from gloss finish, unless you're paintin' momma's kitchen. S****ey Devils C.C.
If it is single stage just cut and buff it untill you get the desired gloss you are looking for!! Probally start out with a little 1500g & medium cut compound and if you dont like it take it down a notch to heavy??
You can add a flattening agent to your paint and play around with it until you get the desired amount of gloss.
basiccally, im looking for something that wont make the stock interior look too old. im not cutting and polishing this. its just to make the guys wife happy about it not being 7 different colors. its tan with the white roof. would that hot rod flatz work in this application?
well, also with the dupont paint system we hae at work, it gives you the choice of egg shell, semi gloss, matte, and flat. so im trying to get something that doesnt look too new.
its called matting agent, and you have to try adding different amounts to your paint. mix up your paint as semi-gloss and do test panel, keep adding additional matting agent untill the gloss matches. keep in mind as you add matting agent you must add more reducer and hardner to keep true to your mixing ratio.
