I asked Sellers how he made such organic looking welds. This is what he said...

Sellers, I'm really glad to see this because it seems like a few months back (maybe more) there was a big ta do about dressing welds. Some folks were saying that they never dressed welds, etc. and how suspicious it would be to see a dressed weld on a frame. I was taught to always clean and dress it up. But, to each his own huh?;)

1st time I picked up a welder I was around 18,Pat lash remebers, I ran over the mask and said F!@##!@ it,, and jus stared through the light to get this job done ,, well 10 hrs later my eyes were taped chut fer 2 days, Honestly I didnt start truly welding till I worked for Henry's Cars I was 20, We did exhaust woirk there,, along with other stuff, the back corner,, we did Hot Rod work there, ,they would never let me help out though so I said let me do the exhaust work,, Picked up the mig, and it was over,, Along the way ,, I jus tried different style's of mig welding but keeping in mind, A STRUCTURAL WELD, over time i guess i jus figured it out,, All The welding on Reeps is 34 Pickup, people think that was TiG welded,, naaah its all Mig,, I didn't Start Tig welding till I went to MagNum Force Racing,, in 98/or 99, Guys not to be or sound like a prick,, I never got any advice really,, jus when i worked for others they would say just dooo it,, weld it,, learing on exhaust was tricky,, thin, you blow through,, it helped alote in the beginning.. It';s just about doing it jus trying over and over and over, and YES PATIENTS, you have to be comfy,, in welding ,, relax,, take a breath, get yer hands comfy, be in comfortable position, knowing you have to weld all the around that tube, I learned Tig,, when we did Full Tubed Chassis's At Magnum, They really wouldn't, let me Weld, soi I would stay late,, a burn up half a bottle messing around,, if i had a penny for every time I stuck the Tungsten to the metal,, Sorry I f I juts blabbed ,, some of you have asked my background or how i started in certain things,, INTAKE MAGAZINE just did a write up on the shop about 3 weeks ago,, soo there will be some info in there on me,bio, And Thanks again Mike from INTAKE MAG, the Mag is from Germany, Check them out, http://www.myspace.com/intake_magazine

some dont correct,, yeah it's SiCk to look at beeds 5 feet down a frame,, when doing cross members on a regular frame yeah I'll leave em,, gives the engineered look,, but when boxing a frame,, I step the plate 1/8th & 1/8th on edge,, picture welding a 90 ,, 2 materials, then I'll grind,, one the boxing plate I'll grind flat,, then I'll grind the top of the frame flate, this will creat a razor edge,, serious it's like a razor blade, fer how sharp you get the 2 materials, then go back and knock a small 45 all the way down the plate,, me I like to hand file a radius along the frame,, view pics on Ab's 46 Chevy Truck frame in my other pics,, This theory, you'll never split the boxing plate apart,, Frame will never crack,, jus looks clean,, "Factory", large radius on the outside, smaller radius on the inside of the frame

Sellers is the shit!!! You should see the models he used to build when we were kids. These skills aren't newly acquired for him. If this helps anyone I grind my welds first with a small air grinder with a thin cut off wheel so I only knock the weld down. Then I proceed with metal finishing. And yes I remember you fucking your eyes up many times. Remember telling me what to do when I did it? It was after we pinched chappy's deuce frame!!!

Metal is incredibly willing, beautiful and most certainly forgiving. I wished I could even BEGIN to understand it, like this guy does.

In the meantime, I'll just sit here and be jealous. Maybe pout. Most likely scrunch up my face and say half a dozen foul things.......:D

Nice Work! I did a lot of stainless steel work in my 15 years as a sheet metal worker in Local 66; sinks, hoods, counters. What Sellers is doing is another magnitude beyond journey level; into the realm of art/natural talent.

I tip my welding hood to you.

That has NO bearing on his amazing talent.

Artist types can be a handful sometimes...very emotional...thats just the way it is.

Went to the myspace page and it has bumped me offline three times, didn't get to see any pics and now you tell me what I've been missing... Steve, from the work I've seen of yours in printed format, I will have to try this page again. It is Art.

he had a serious bad attitude, and let it show in a post he made.

  29. Pretty much sums up the situation, I'd say...for those who didn't catch it when it happened.

HOLY CRAP SELLERS!.....THATS SOME BEAUTIFUL STUFF!!.......

BUT DAMN THATS ALOT OF SANDING!......AND BOXES OF ROLL-LOCKS!.......I GUESS HAVING NO MONEY WHEN I STARTED AND BEING A CHEEP-ASS-SWAPMEETER IN GENERAL MADE ME A BETTER WELDER!

I SAY THROW A SWEET TRIPLE-TIG WELD ON IT AND KEEP STEPPIN'!....... NUTHIN' LOOKS BETTER THAN A PERFECT UNTOUCHED WELD....IMHO.....
