The American Nostalgia Drag Racing ***ociation is proud to announce our 2007 Cl***ic Series schedule! April 14 ANRA Season Opener LACR, Palmdale, CA June 23 ANRA Summer Nationals FAMOSO RACEWAY, Bakersfield, CA August 25 ANRA Cool August Nights FAMOSO RACEWAY Bakersfield, CA November 10-11 ANRA Cl***ic Finals FAMOSO RACEWAY, Bakersfield, CA Yep. You read that right. FAMOSO RACEWAY! this really is a dream come true for us and a real caveat for Sportsman Nostalgia Racing in California. Huge thanks to Blake and John Bowser for the opportunity to run at this historic and fabled strip! This is an open invitation to ALL HA/GR teams who wish to participate on the west coast. we will run you in accordance with the format set out in the HAMB drags website as a non compe***ive cl*** and will guarantee the number of runs you will get. the only thing i need from you guys is a head count and committment for any of our three Famoso dates. Mark these events on your calender and we'll see you there!
Wow! How cool is that. I've run Famosa twice in 2004 and 2005 and had a blast. Loved the track and all the orange trees around it. Thats a long old pull out there,I think it cost me 1000.00 in fuel and thats not counting the motel rooms etc. Would be fun though.
Know anyone with a big ole stacker? I wonder how many stamps it would take to mail an envelope 13 feet long?
Sadly, our car's nowhere near ready at this time (and likely won't be that way 'til August at best) but Russ and I will be there. Couple of the others may be as well.
Great to see 'doors opening', I trust you guys will be able to see the oportunity that it is, and support it accordingly.... Looks like QQMoon & I will have to stop building cars and start building a big boat so we can come and race..... Cheers, Drewfus
The Barn Job's now "rolling" status. We've borrowed a trailer and will have'er at Palmdale for show & tell at least. See y'all there.
Well We went to Palmdale, And **** and Russ brought out his roller.. There was quite a bit of intrest in his car.. I had some printouts of my car there too. People want to see them run. Calif. might be in the thick of this HA/GR racing cl***.. Watch out Oklahoma...... BTW Nice to meet both of you guys.. GET'ER DONE..
Palmdale was fun. Finally met ThingyM and every time someone called out "****" we'd both turn around. His regular crowd so it was mostly for him, but Russ couldn't resist giving me some lip over it. What else are friends for? ****, you'll have to put an extension on your trailer for Bakersfield, I'm sure you could move the front wall up a bit more on the tongue if you really tried. Got to meet alteredpilot too, another great at***ude. Man I hope we haven't set your project too far back with the changes you're thinking about now. When we pulled in we asked if there was anyplace in particular they wanted us (we didn't want to break the ice by getting in the way). Surprise, they installed us right in front of their office, right at the head of the staging lanes. Seems there's rather a fair bit of interest in the cl*** here. A note to any of you who show & tell at an ANRA meet, we wished to hell we'd remembered to bring along some cl*** definition and rules sheets. You'll want to have a good supply handy, it'll at least let you draw a breath between explanations. Unfortunately the track had to drop the running to 1/8 mi. not long after the first round as the wind elected to show up as well, bringing an incessant layer of dust to the track surface. A bit after lunch they had to throw in the towel and call it. Still, we got the morning and middle of the day to sneak over between answering questions about the car and watch the running. There was some great tin and some good ol' heads up racing. The folks were all cool, and as most stayed for the barbeque anyway, we did too, giving the HA/GR "spiel" right on up 'til we left. One thing though, we wish we'd had one of the "bug" style builders bring a car as well. It would've been a far better and truer cl*** representation than we could present with only our middie for'em to eyeball. Still, it's beginning to look like the left coast's going to turn on to this thing in a big way, and the ANRA people really do want to see it fly as well. So, we'll be working our ****s off trying to get the Barn Job running ahead of schedule for the June exhibition at Bakersfield. We plan to have'er there at any rate, but we really want to be able to light'er up for the folks as well. Well, much to get done by then if we're to make it happen, best get to it. Have fun, we did.
Thanks **** for the inspiration!!! Want to build one for my WIFE, call it (see's OK with the name) "Nothing To Lose". Look for ya in Bakersfield
Hey ****::: Lets see how many cars we can muster up. and take them to Bakersfield. For Show and tell.. I have another one that will go. "Taco Bandit" Owned by my Mexican friend..
We'll do our best, And this time I'll get off my *** and make up a tall pile of rules sheets to hand out.
