I have a 1929 Model A Sedan body and frame I am considering selling. It is in pretty good shape. It sat for 30 years in its roof, so the rear top section has some rust issues and needs replaced ot shopped into a roadster, but the sections needed are available. What I am after is a ball park figure of what a project like this would be worth. I am buying a new house and I need a little extra cash for the down payment so this is one project that needs to go. Thoughts?
Here is a shot of the body. The frame is not in the picture, but it is a basic stock model A frame. in excellent condition.
in great shape. The only real issues are the rear sections of the top, but even that is easily replaced. It is in pretty nice shape for having sat outside for 30 years.
I'd say less than 1K. That roof damage seems pretty bad. And very few people wanna make a roadster out of a Tudor. Tubs aint that great.
Something to think about: If you have the time to part it out (hood, fenders, cowl, garnish mouldings, etc...), you can get more $ than if you sell it as one big project. Individual parts are easier to ship as well.
that body is valuable not really as a restoration per se, but as a donor for a car such as ours, that has the ENTIRE lower 12 inches in need of replacement. Our top is good, as our most other sedans, so the fact that the bottom is good and that you simply unbolt the good top from the bad bottom and vice versa combine them, bam, it's priceless. I'd pretty much chuck the top half, list the bottom half on eBay in broken down, shippable parts (only requires very minimal torching, mostly unbolting, and you'd make a bit I would say. Stock A chassis, maybe worth $250-500 from what I've seen (if it's not running/driving). If you go as far as unbolting it all into panels, and are willing to ship the lower halves (or whichever ones are useable), we would be interested............ PM me
