if you go *just* over the border in Te***seh MI, there's a living legend of a striper named Ray Smith. he's on the HAMB; goes by the screename of Safariknut. PM him; he's as good as they come.
How about Lance Taylor from around Ft. Wayne Indiana area? Don't have his number. Or the master Ray Smith (El Vago) around Detroit?
Chuckspeed is right, Ray Smithis bad ***. He did some quick work on my 32 very nice. You won't go wrong !! here is a link on him. http://www.pinheadlounge.com/portfolio.php?artistid=elvago
I want to stripe the mail box for my new house. I will need one of those huge rural boxes with all the magazines I get. I will try Enjejo's guy first since he is closer. Thanks for the suggestions.
If you take the extra bit and go to Ray's place you WILL be amazed. Check him out and let me know. I'll run up and watch.
Before you rush into any decisions, take the trek to Autorama next weekend and watch Ray in amazing action. You might find another one up there as well that tickles your fancy. Old school lines, I think Ray's first 'published' job was in a '62 Rod & Custom or Hot Rod. His first job was when he was 11, I believe.
Better yet, go to the Autorama and take your checkbook. ALL the money that you write that check out for will go to the Rainbow Connection Charity and I can promise you Ray won't be hurt by the fact that you didn't write the check out to him instead. If you play your cards right, you could get a mailbox done by Ray and several others. Vance
Also check out Todd Hanson over in Wauseon, 419-337-3296. Does awesome work and is listed on pinhead lounge site. as well as does the Detroit Autorama. Look for him if you go. CHEERS!!! ZIMM
im a striper in training LOL does that count...im also in northwest ohio so i have one and a half things going for me....AUTORAMA I CAN'T WAIT!!!
well one is i live in northwest ohio and the other half is that im not an actuall "pinstriper" yet so you get one and a half things going for me
I'll agree it doesn't count much to other people but it counts to me...well except the being in ohio part, that part just blows ***
That Ohellhole thing is a -1 so I'll give you both a 3/4. Your heart has a beat we can dance to. Vance, I think I've got a motor for the 48. Sephgato has that slant 6 with auto trans. Might just have to toss it together to make it a wood hauler. NOT.
Hey, Bob's got some stuff for you and the boys... Some papers and a CD full of files that I had regarding that delivery.
hey lee, heres one i did just now after i threw up a second time from praticing my lines lol...i usually try a couple designs at the end of my pratice so it doesn't get boring...i know it looks like **** but i thought i would share with you guys
Cool, Bob. If you want a mailbox or 2 to practice on, remind me next time your up. They had 12 at work and replaced them with one of those big steel things. They threw the 12 in the dumpster and I went diving. Got 2 of those magazine monsters, some plastic junk, and 5 or 6 steel ones. Just need some remover to take off the numbers and stuff but good for striping. I thought of them after reading this post that we could use those. Why did you throw up after practicing your lines? Don't be so tense.
Oh, and J Man, rumor has it Vance can stripe as well. Not that I have the entire side of a 48 Sedan Delivery as evidence. Or the back door. Or the inside. Or some model cars of the 48. I'm sure he can do a proper job on a mailbox. He's south of you by Dayton, for now.
hey dan i didn't actually throw up it is a joke that vance tells people..."keep praticing until you vomit and then pratice some more"
Actually, I tell people to ..."keep praticing until you vomit... twice and then pratice some more" And I had NOTHING to do with the inside of that delivery. That was like that when I drug it home from Iowa. I will claim the side and back though. But only because I was trying out a new Buegler roller and needed a BIG flat space... man did that delivery serve that purpose perfectly! And yeah, I've done my share of mailboxes, but I can always do more if asked. I think I even have a couple of clean ones still in the garage waiting for paint. Vance
