Ray, I heard through the grapevine that there's a local thing going on that day/night. Something about a Wheel Tramps shindig out at the Rock Inn. Lots of local people going to that I guess. I ain't about to miss a HAMB bbq though.:D

  2. That was FEB 24th.. or so I thought. I was gonna go but my son's Bday party was the next day, so it wasnt gonna fly.

Shit..Well its too late to change it. I'll call one of those guys and see what the deal is. Their gigs are usually at night. So if I need to we can cut this off at a reasonable time. I have nobody looking to crash out, so maybe we can nix that.

  3. Eryk is correct..

The Wheel Tramps gig starts in the evening, so we can still do alot of HAMBing before that.

All you locals come on out, and I'll see you at the Rock Inn later for some beers.

They wont be smashing up cars at that one..

Yep, we're doing it the same day, Sat 3-24. The flyer is here:
    http://www.wheeltramps.com/
The bands start after 9:00pm, so folks could do both if they're crazy enough.

I'll try to drive by on my way up the hill, depends on what state my '55 is in and whether I need to help out with the show.

Don't worry about the olds trans, I'm still in confusion over whether I could use it or the motor. Still too many unknowns.

  8. Were starting early so stop by for lunch...

  9. I guess you know that part of Littlerock was/is called Sun Village. And I guess you know that Frank Zappa once lived in the AV. Here's a little ditty recorded by Frank. Hope ya dig it…

    Frank Zappa (lead guitar, vocals)
    Napoleon Murphy Brock (saxophone, vocals)
    George Duke (keyboards, vocals)
    Ruth Underwood (percussion)
    Tom Fowler (bass)
    Chester Thompson (drums)

    "Village of the Sun"

    Goin' back home
To the Village of the Sun
    Out in back of Palmdale
Where the turkey farmers run, I done
    Made up my mind
And I know I'm gonna go to Sun
Village, good God I hope the
    Wind don't blow

It take the paint off your car
    And wreck your windshield too,
I don't know how the people stand it,
    But I guess they do
    Cause they're all still there,
    Even Johnny Franklin too
In the Village of the Sun
    Village of the Sun
    Village of the Sun, son
    (Sun Village to you)

Little Mary, and Teddy, and Thelma too
    Where Palmdale Boulevard
    Cuts on through
Past the Village Inn & Barbecue
    (I heard it ain't there...
Well I hope it ain't true)
    Where the stumblers gonna go
To watch the lights turn blue?
    Where the stumblers gonna go
    To watch the lights turn
    blue-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-wahhh?

    Boogie, boogie, boogie, boogie
    Goin' back home
To the Village of the Sun
    Out in back of Palmdale
Where the turkey farmers run, I done
    Made up my mind
And I know I'm gonna go to Sun
Village, good God I hope the
    Wind don't blow

It take the paint off your car
    And wreck your windshield too,
I don't know how y'all people stand it,
    But I guess you do
    Cause you're all still there,
    In your thermal underwear
In the Village of the Sun
    Village of the Sun
    Village of the Sun, son
    (Sun Village to you)

    Pryin' pooh

    What you gonna do?
    Pryin' pooh

    What you gonna do?

    What you gonna do?
    Pryin' pooh

I'm not sure what Pryin' Pooh means though. Any ideas?

  10. Thats funny..

    You coming up?

    Everyone needs some Hydrazine!

If you bring that I need more potties, as they'll be cryin and pooin...

  11. Ray, if the trip to Bako doesn't kill my Olds, I will definetely be there.

  12. Man I would love to be there, but the swim would kill me. Believe me, I know, I swam one lap in an olympic size pool against my 7 year old son the other week and that nearly did kill me!

    Hey Ray,

Molly and I will be there. She wants to bring the Ranchero by so you can checkout all the bitchin' parts you hooked her up with. I'll be in my '55. We'll spend the day with you and then it's up the hill for the Wheel Tramps Cruise-In.

  14. Sounds good.

I'd love to see the Ranchero. I finally brought the 55 over from the other yard.

I plan on doing the same thing, heading up to the Rock after dark. Everyone that comes should check that out too.

Oh shit. In that case I'll bring my wallet and my tools.

  17. Less than 2 weeks to go..

I need to confirm with those of you who said you are bringing something or coming early to set up, take down, etc so I can make sure I have everything needed.

Thanks to all that are helping out.

  18. I will try to show up but I'm not 100% sure if I'll make.
That's about as vague, as it gets.

  19. If you have the evening to blow off as well, we are all going up to the Wheeltramps gig afterwards.

That will be a kick ass party, and a great end to a fun-filled day at the junkyard.

Try to make it. You wont be sorry.

And Kurt..what is a fake BBQ? You cooking stuff on your intake manifold?

  20. Ahh, I see..

There will be some potatoes, and other veggies + salad, maybe fruit to round out the meal. I can live for days on carne asada alone, but i do like to get my veggies in too.

    Ray,
I have one of those 6 foot folding tables and a 10X10 Easy-Up. If you want me to bring them let me know. Count me for two.

I'll be there Ray. Whether or not the truck is, is a different story, but i'll be there anyway. Really looking forward to it, and told them already at work, "don't count on me working that weekend"

  24. The Olds got really hot while trying to climb the Grapevine last Friday. So, put me on the maybe list, Ray. I'll be trying to fix it, but we'll see what transpires. I hated to have my Driving Appliance at the March Meet. Think good thoughts for me, as they say…

Just got on the Hamb and saw this. I should be there. Guess this event will pull me from retirement, since the last one I planned to go to I got left behind from an old friend.
