Gene Winfield coming to Ohio for a workshop!

Anyone who knows Gene, knows he works at his own pace and does his own thing. So, no, he didn't give me any type of itinerary for the weekend. From what others who have attended have told me, Gene is very open to questions and will spend more or less time on subjects depending on the interest and the skill level.

I'm updating the above list as I get new people. Remember, when you PM me be sure to include your name, US mailing address, email address and best phone number to reach you at. If you are on the list and no longer interested, please be sure to let me know so I can keep an accurate count.

The nearest airport is the Canton/Akron airport (code 'CAK'). Cleveland is about an hour and a half, Columbus at least two hours and Cinci like 3 1/2 to four.

Yes, there is shopping, tourist activities and lots of restaurants for wives or girlfriends.

Hopefully by the end of the day today I will have the host hotel rates put together.

Looks like the host hotel will be the Canton McKinley Grand Hotel in downtown Canton, OH (44702). They said by the end of the day they will have it set up. As soon as they give me the ok I will post the reservation phone number and a reservation numbecode (if it is necessary).

Like I said earlier, if your name is listed in post #24 of this thread I am counting on you being there. I will be mailing out registration forms and info flyers soon. If you have changed your mind and aren't coming, please be sure to let me know. Thanks!

We have room for 15-20 more people. I am advertising this workshop at a fairly large automotive event this weekend and am confident I will sell out the remaining open spots. So, if you are interested, ACT NOW! I don't want to see any of my HAMB brothers or sisters left out!

The host hotel will be the Canton McKinley Grand Hotel in downtown Canton (320 Market Ave South, Canton, OH 44702). It will be $89 a room for one or two people, $99 a room for three or four people. Those rates include breakfast in their restaurant which is pretty good. To make reservations call 1.877.454.5008. When you call please be sure to mention the "Gene Winfield Workshop" rate and room block.
They have a pool and a cl***ic car dealership in the ba*****t. Plus they should be able to handle large group transportation in their van to the workshop location about 5 minutes up the road.

Thought I better make it clear that, I can only attend one day. Just can't swing the price for both days.

 

One day is ok. I will try to get him to pin down what he will cover each day so you can decide which one to come to. I'm guessing Saturday would be a better day though. The bartering of some Buick valve covers wouldn't help this situation, would it?

ALL I CAN SAY IS GO! if you can come up with the green. I attended the one in Midland, TX last summer and it was awesome. Doesn't matter if you are a greenhorn or a pro. Gene is a really nice , easy to talk with, down to earth guy. Not snobbish at all. So agin, GO>GO>GO if you can. You won't regret it.

 

I am taking my refund from Uncle Sam and going! I'm really excited about this. I know almost nothing about this stuff and I'm excited to learn from Mr. Winfield.

Anyone want to split the cost of a hotel room? I don't snore...

Keep those reservations coming! I still have some spots left! Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from the master. I looked into going to his workshop out there last November and it would have cost $1500 between airfare, hotel and lodging! This is a bargain!

 

What sort of gear, if any will we need? Should I bring safety gl***es, gloves, ear protection?

Oh, and is photography allowed--I mean in the cl***, not just "me and Gene Winfield" mementos?

You can take all the photos they want and Gene doesn't mind one bit. He is really low key and you can ask any question any time you want. Wear blue jeans and a workshirt and bring safety gl***es, just in case. He will have some T-shirts and posters for sale (cash only), but you're not pressured into buying. It's not about Gene. It's about Kustom metal magic and tricks of the trade. The workshop is something you will never forget. (I attended the Midland, TX workshop last summer.)

 

I'll bring a bottle of Captain Morgan for my safety gear! Anybody want to bring diet coke , ice, cups?

 

Gene only drinks milk!

 

For those of you who have asked...

If you can only pay me half up front and pay the rest Friday night/Saturday morning when you get to the workshop, that is fine, as long as you pay. I don't want that to stop you from coming.

FYI-
The seminar will run 9-6 on Saturday and 9-5 on Sunday.
Saturday night I have reserved a room at the local BBQ joint for those who want to dine together. After dinner we will have a reception type deal in the Motorcar showroom (which is in the lower level of the host hotel) and you can come play in my cars and see why I have one of the coolest jobs in the world!

Gene plans to stay in the Ohio/Michigan area the week after the seminar since he is staying for the Detroit Autorama the weekend of the 10th. If you have a top that is in need of a Winfield chop in the area, PM me!
