has anyone ever seen sparks coming from the rear bumper when its lowered and hits the ground? it's not a flame thrower, either. Is it flint or what do they use?
they're s****e plates usually- ***anium for white sparks, steel makes gross dull orange sparks, and if it's sp**** it's from a bumper or frame rails!
They are magnesium blocks placed on frame extensions. Make sure that the blocks are well away from any fuel tanks and lines. As magnesium burns hotter than almost any other metal.
That there be refered to as "tail-draggin"....***anium blocks. This isn't a cheap thing to buy either, so it'd probably be better to use steel s****e pads. If you're dragging the bumper....You're a dumb***. Ask Texas******** about draggin' the frame rails. Makes lower control arms disposable. hehehe
I dont understand why anyone would wanna do this but here ya go, this place sells them for $30 http://www.jpkustoms.com/catalog/drag-blocks-c-63.html
the away from fuel lines advice is good, i have seen pictures of trucks burnt to the ground from dragging. still it looks cool at night.
I've heard it called arcing. The only reason I know is I knew someone who got a ticket for it up in the St Louis area.
Some of my buddies use old parallel springs... has a little give and bouce when you drop the rear and they are plentiful and replaceable cheap!
the piece of metal you put underneath your car to make it spark is called a drag plate. correct me if i am wrong
i used some 3/4" grd8 bolts for a wile, then i switched to the trailer hitch balls on my daily driver. they are better, and alot of sparks. dragging the *** of the truck hitting the train horn, most people don't know wtf is going on.
the reason to chop, channel, or hot rod a car is to either improve the looks, flow or performance...now back to the blocks...i think they're useless!
Which, in the real world, is all useless. Keep things in perspective -- we're not saving the world, we're spending time and money on pieces of metal. Who cares if it's useless?
Not too sound like a ****, but chop, channel, and hot rodding have nothin to do and arent even in the same league as s****ing blocks!!!!! Im was sayin that I work real hard on my cars and their frames, IMO it be redicoulous to drop it on the ground while driving and chew it all up just to watch pretty sparks and impress some kooks. Kool lookin? yes, will it Jack you car up? probally
the way i see it, i drive my cars low all the time. the bags are to get over obstacles like speed bumps. with this in mind, the car is going to drag now and then. so you might as well have something sacrificial instead of grinding away the frame or whatever. steel will work fine, but i work in a machine shop that specializes in more exotic metals, like ***anium, so i got Ti blocks, didn't cost me a penny. i remember about 8 years ago, when i lived in a tiny town in minnesota, had a 63 riviera with hydraulics and some drag blocks, ran into a guy at a gas station who was into lowriders, which were pretty rare in minnesnowta, as i left the gas station, i dumped the *** and left in a blaze of sparks, rookie cop was hanging out in their favorite speedtrap hiding spot when i went by, he chased me down, actually concerned for my safety, thinking my car had broken and was on fire! he had no idea people had cars that could go up and down, so he insists i "make it work" for him, so he stands out in the middle of the road to see what juice was all about as i hit the switches for him. i think he was too flabbergasted by what he saw to even consider giving me a ticket!
