I just bought a barn full of cars & parts & thinking about selling off the stuff I don't need.Just wondering what this stuff is worth. An orginal set of lancer hubcaps, 1940's Ford hubcaps.A 1939 Buick opera coupe,1950 Ford crestliner,1955 Mercury Monticlair,1958 Cadillac 2-dr hardtop. All orginal & in nice condition, been garaged about 12 - 16 years. Thanks for any help. Nuthead
Why can't I just ask here?I'm just interested. If you don't like what I'm asking just don't read it.There's always a jerk in every group.
nuthead-- did you earn your name by receiving something special in a*****o or something? it's lame to ask value on a car without details or pictures. so, i'll say somewhere between zero and thousands of dollars.. see how your question looks a little useless? -scott noteboom
you could take the time to do some research on your own first. look at completed auctions on ebay, for items like yours, in similar condition...that's the best way to find out what you could expect to get for it. No way for us to tell you what it's worth without a bunch of pics and complete descriptions....best we could do is give you a range, like for example that caddy could be worth a few thousand to a several tens of thousands, depending on what you consider to be "All orginal & in nice condition"
Sorry I've been moving them the last 2 days & have'nt taken good pics yet.The ones I have are too big & I can't get them to go on here.
the hubcaps are worth $5 a piece. the cars are worth $1000 each. if you are interested in selling them for that price let me know . thanks
Thanks for your help axle. Remember I know who you are & I'll see you at VLV. Here's the pics I have.I'm not trying to hor the stuff out,i was just thinking of selling some things off that I'm not going to use.I just bought everything out of the barn because I knew if I didn't want it someone on here may.
blue cars are worth this much, red cars are worth this much. send us some photos we can help. cadillac dave
Ok this is what I was told an orginal set of lancer hubcaps go for $500.I looked on ebay & online at cars selling as I was told on here to do my own research.1955 merc monticlair $20000,1958 cadillac 2dr hard top $25000,1950 ford crestliner $18000,this is the area of pricing I was seeing for cars in the same condition.Does this sound right?Just asking for help not smartass's.Thanks Nuthead
Seeing the pics and the prices you found, it looks like you're getting a pretty good idea of what they're worth. That wasn't so bad, now, was it?
Actually there are several of us. But at least you were up front about your intentions I gotta give you that. Spend some time cruiseing the classifieds and see what the stuff that is selling is going for. That's your best bet. You listed some pretty neat stuff, if i weren't project poor I'd like to snag that old Buick myself. What I would do if they were mine is list them for what I could afford to sell them for and not try to retire on every sale. if they sell and you don't***** anyone then you've done yourself some good and someone else at the same time.
There are about 10 different hubcaps that are referred to as "lancers" so I wouldn't be so sure about pricing until you determine which ones you have. As far as the cars go, your prices seem correct, but that's****uming your cars all run and are fully roadworthy. After sitting in a shed for 15 years, tires tend to dry rot, carbs and fuel pumps dry up, brakes go soft,***** goes bad. You aren't going to pull those numbers for the cars if they can't be driven home. But if they are fully roadworthy, then yes, sounds about right.
You know, it's threads like this that make people nervous about getting into really posting in this forum sometimes. Talk about intimidating. So the guy asked a question in about the most nonsensical way possible. At least he asked and was willing to hear some advice on how to get the pricing or market values of the cars. I think theres a few people here who should relax and remember that having alliance membership and 100 posts doesn't exactly mean you're not still a FNG too. With that said, looks like you're sitting on some pretty impressive stuff there compadre! A really good way to get an idea of the price would be to list the cars and parts up on ebay with a really stupid reserve... like $100,000.00. Don't disclose the reserve... just let people bid on it and see how high the bids go. When the auction is over and not met, you'll have the highest bid there in front of you. This way you know what the CURRENT market value of your car is (at least on ebay). You may suprise yourself with how big those bids will get. It'll cost you a little $$$$ to find out this way, but at least it takes the guesswork out of finding what the car is worth, right? Good luck with the sales. Wish I could drop some $$ on one myself!
Other than alot of people who would bid will skip right over an auction with a reserve. Nothing is going to beat good research. You are talking some decent money here and answers to that generally aren't found that easily. As noted, condition, condition, condition. You can sell em as is and take what you get or clean them up and list or fix what needs fixed. Price can vary alot depending on which way you go. I imagine you know all of this though.
what*****ing barn? looks like a pole building to me. your more likely going to find a dinasour these days than a real "barn find car"!
glad I wasnt the only one thinking that....looks like a metal pre-fab mueller building to me...with a few years worth of dirt...looks like a collector or son is waiting for the owner to die off...
great Idea... You could fly me down there though and ill do all the research and list em for ya for 2 weeks paid and some good food! Just kidding....... Dave
Here's pics after first wash job.I'm gonna get them roadworthy & put them for sale on here first before ebay.
So did you rip the old widow off or did you just buy em off of the angry, soon to be "ex-wife"? Nobody would buy all those cars at close to market value without knowing what they are worth.
Nuthead,.... This seems to me that you are feeling out the HAMB to see what you might be able to make on these cars and parts on ebay. If I am correct about this,....then you need to go elsewhere. The HAMB is not a feeling ground to see how much you might make on ebay or at auction. If you have something for sale, post in the For Sale area,....if you're trying to figure out what something is worth,...do some research for yourself instead of being lazy and wasting people's time by posting vague threads to see if you struck it rich!
....and then we'll all doubt you and wonder if you really paid what you said you did,...then some will offer you $5 dollars more than what you paid... seriously,...it happens!!
