I'm sorry to hear that. I had to have my best buddy of 13 years put down last August. I still look for him and expect to see him when I get home. That dog loved going for rides and was a true friend. :(

When I read this, I heaved a big sigh. Then Zeke, the BanjoDog, walked in and he heaved a big sigh and put his head in my lap. All of a sudden my eyes were wet. I'm so sorry to hear this, Ray. They mean a lot tto us, don't they?

Don't apologize about lovin the dog. A lot of research has been done the proves having a pet improves the quality of life for some folks. Makes them healthier.

    Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss man. To me, and to you I'm sure, there's no such thing as "just a dog". Go rescue one from the pound, take it home and you'll feel better instantly. We rescued a little mutt a few months ago and that little dude is the best! I don't know if I look forward to getting home to my dogs or my wife more some days!

    Im sorry dude...RIP Junkyard Dog.

I had a mouse that used to pop out in the garage from the rafters from time to time and watch me work.

It was almost comforting in a wierd way.

I came out one day and it was dead on the floor.

Maybe it jumped??? I stopped for a moment of silence. Tossed it in the trash and went to work.

Sorry about your bud... Its tough to lose a bud like that.

Our Lab just had ten pups all black. Half rot and half Lab. They're great I was sitting here holding one while it slept and logged onto the HAMB and read this post.

Will be thinking of you. Here's a picture to cheer you up

  26. Sorry about your buddy man.The hardest thing I have ever done is to hold my dog while the vet put her to sleep. Its been a year and I still miss her like crazy.I guess its the only true love there is in life, as they ask for nothing and give everything for you.:(

I know what its like to lose or part with a part of your family. Its amazing how "just an animal" can effect ya. Here is something a friend of mine posted once on a website. He lost his friend too. This will make any dog owner tear up just a lil'.

    To Petri....
    • You dug Volkswagon-sized holes in my yard so you could drop 3" high troll dolls in them.
    • You farted constantly
    • You slobbered
    • You smelled like a barn animal
    • Your tail knocked plaster off my door-frames and probably made me sterile
    • You scared an East-Indian police offer so badly that he reverted to his native tongue on a police radio
    • You put an entire cat in your mouth
    • You would fearlessly tackle a herd of marauding pit-bulls or gun-toting robbers but were afraid of squirrels
    • You ***ually molested my friends male German Shepherd, it now refuses to get out of the car at my house
    • You slept on the furniture when we were out
    • You scratched my floors
    • You ate an entire large pepperoni pizza off the dining room table in the time it took me to get plates out of the cupboard
    • You did the same with a loaf of bread...still in the bag with a twist tie on
    • You broke the gl*** in my wife's china cabinet
    • You pissed on my new Skyrocket Junipers so much that they died
    • You frustrated the hell out of me.
    • You would never leave me alone, always in the way, always leaning against me, always putting your head on my chest and insisting on having your ears scratched when I just wanted to read a book.
    • You ate a 50 lb bag of dog food a week
    • Your big *** ruined the couch in the rec room by causing the arms to seperate
    • You stole all the stuffed animals from every room in the house and brought them into your bed to sleep with. You never chewed one. Not once. Ever.
    • You would rather sleep on a cold concrete floor at my feet than sleep in the expensive heated bed we got you for your arthtritis, just to be close to me.
    • You made me laugh so hard it hurt.
    • You made me sleep better at night.
    • You make me know my kids were always safe.
    • You made me feel like I was your whole world.
I miss you like hell you stupid cow.

  28. That's just heartbreaking. I'm very sorry. She was a sweet little thing. At our yard we had 2 dogs and a cat. The cat usually had the good sense to stay out of site until quitting time. We had one Queensland Heeler like yours and a Border Collie. We kept them locked up until all machinery shut down for the day. The dogs, especially the Heeler, wanted to be where the action was doing what they do which is to work and herd. I have no doubt that's what your girl was doing. It would have killed me if either had been injured or killed so please don't be ashamed of any tears

    Paul

  29. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I just put a cat down a month ago that came with the house we bought. My wife and daughter were allergic, so I didn't let her in the house until she got real sick and we were trying to nurse her back to health.

Good thing I got a cold right now or my wife would wonder why I'm sniffling so much.

And I think we all ought to go easy on the truck driver too. Poor ****er's minding his own business when the dog runs under his tire. That can't be a good day.
