What year Rocket Is this?

    ok well I just bought this engine, Olds rocket. everytime i try to look up info on it i keap getting links for the New Repro valve covers. I know any one of you can tell me the specs in a sec. like what year it is CI so and so

    Oh yeah, so anyways, i bought this engine & hydromatic trans for 250 smackaroos. ran when pulled 10 years ago, gonna rebuild it and use it for my 31coupester. blam.

    ***uming it's all as it came from the factory, it's either a '52 or '53 303, according to the valve covers and the intake.

    What are the raised numbers on the top of the bellhousing part of the block back by the dizy?
    555641
    561747 all of these numbers are 303
    563922

    if not any of the above PM me the numbers you find
     
  6. I'm saying 53. 53 was first year 4 barrel, and it should be 12 volt. Numbers are stamped on the block, on the deck surface of the driver side head by the rear exhaust port.

    '52 was the first year a 4bbl. was available, and in '54, Olds went to a larger bolt pattern for the carb, so it's either '52 or '53.
