My motor mounts were pretty flimsy and basically just for mock up purposes. I took some measurements and made some cardboard templates. I took them to work with me last night and cut them out of .125 plate steel with a bandsaw. I also had time to pop out two front hairpin mounts. I think this will work a lot better than what I had. I'm using the Howe style motor mounts that all the circle track guys are familliar with. I'll also have a 1/2" rubber buscuit between the pad and the mount when it's done.
Looks tough! A lot sturdier than the previous mounts (if that's what I see in the first picture) Flatman
Nice work, but I'm curious... What's wrong with stock 58-64 style motor mounts? Early Ford Flathead biscuit mounts work well if you use the full set with upper large biscuit and cup and lower biscuit to achieve isolation. Even the 55-57 Chevrolet style biscuits work OK if you have the upper and lower biscuits to achieve isolation correctly. A single biscuit with a bolt run through it is not an isolating motor mount and a motor plate would work as well.
Ummm I don't think we're on the same page. This is the mount for the driver's side, I haven't made the p***enger one yet. They're going to hold up a SBC in a chopped/channeled tudor that rides just over 6" off the pavement so I had to jack the engine up in the air a bit. I'm using the racing mounts because I used to race and I had them laying around the shop.
Ha! you can't afford me......I'd probably ruin all your cool **** Are you back from your "visit" yet?
