Being that we're all hot rodder's here....we all love our speed equipment. You know, all the 'goodies' that makes us more power to go FASTER.
I'm sure most of you guys (and gals:) ) have a certain FAVORITE type of part, be it wheels, gauges, carbs, distributors or MAGs, valve covers, etc....you get the idea. I'm talking SPEED equipment here .....not shift knobs, spotlights or hubcaps....I dig that stuff too, but it doesn't make you faster.;)

My fetish is intake manifolds....always has been. Maybe because it was the first thing I changed when I started driving. I'd then get another to try out, then another and so on...... such an easy part to change, fairly inexpensive, doesn't wear out, and just plain COOL. I had a collection of @ 15 different intakes, but recently sold a few in order to buy 'other' parts....it hurt when I sold 'em....even though I didn't have a motor to use 'em on....ha ha ha!
I particularly dig Weiand (say "Why-And") manifolds....I can't explain WHY (pun not intended..), I just do......ha ha....

I enjoy seeing what people collect in the name of SPEED....so I ask ya...

Whats YOUR Speed Equipment FETISH???? :D

  3. Weiand, Holley and Mallory. I like Enderle injection and could use a pair of barn doors. I'm also one Holley 660 centersquirt short of a load.

I generally don't keep pieces I'm not going to use I guess that makes me a little quirkey.;)

    Yeah...me too.....UNLESS it's an intake.....
    I try not to BUY stuff unless I KNOW I'll use it.......but sometimes I can't HELP it....hahaha!
My wife gets upset with me when I do that .... haha!

Oh...valve covers are definitely are fav of mine as well. And I love MagNEATo's.....ignition perfection....I'll have one on an engine someday for sure.....

  7. Actually I got to confess I got a rare muscle car intake that I'll probably never use. But I get around it by saying I can use it for mockup. :D

Mrs. 'beaner has never squaked about me bringing car or motor cycle parts home. She says it far better than what a lot of guys bring home to their wives.

  8. I dig on Headers. Something about the way the pipe is bent and the noise they make really moves me.

I've got a load of intakes, followed closely by aluminum valve covers. Got a finned cover for a 216/235 with "SPECIAL" in block letters in between the fins. No idea who made that one, but it's the only one I've seen.

Multiple carb intake systems, I love to see homemade and oddball fuel distribution and linkage set-ups. Also some of the old multi carb air cleaners are extremely cool.

I have to confess i have one too... Heads. Rare cool heads.
One offs, few offs, factory prototypes, heads with bonneville history, NOS heads, etc.. Mostly early stuff like Model A/B and flathead V8.
There`s something about them thats just so interresting, some of them can be beautiful, some can be highly effective, and most are both..
I also have a thing for cams and ignition systems, and last but not least NOS stuff..

The doctor couldn`t help me, so what can i do.. :D

joeybsyc, dude you seriuosly need to part with some of that stash...

    With me, it's whole engines.
I'm a freak when it comes to engines.
I've pared down now, just because I've run out of room.
At one time, I had two hemis, one 50's 331 caddy, four inlines, three sbc's, one sbf, one aluminum Buick v8, and an assortment of motorcycle engines taking up space in my garage.

  16. Of course it is, I mean gime a break.

Edelbrock single 4 dual plane with cast in MOPAR part number
    CHRY 2886150

I think you can still buy 'em from Edelbrock without the chrysler part number.

Most of the time it's not cheap but I will pick up good heads if I find them for the right price. Mostly chevy, but There are a few good early Poncho heads wrapped in Saran wrap and lithium grease in the barn. Hope that lithium stuff is teh right thing to use, i never researched it much. I have a couple axles, behind the shed, but they are the originals replaced by something better. I have a complete68 327 Chebby in the attic of my garage and multiple Quadrajets, all mid to late 60's adjustable models, but lack of interest in attempting to tune them for the various vehicles that could use them has made them a little useless.

Gauges, wheels, dashes, gauge panels, headlight buckets, early taillights, gas pedals... I try to quit steering wheels and carburators by selling them... It doesn´t help much though... :)

That's my problem at the moment as well Raven....(3) BB Mopars, (4) BB Chevys, a Pontiac 400, a SBC, and........(2) 2.0 Ford Pintos....all taking up precious room in the garage. Not to mention a couple of 727's, A-833's and TH350's...hahaha!
Can anyone recommend a good SHRINK????

  20. I could probably do some shrinking of the mopar population for ya but damn its a long way to drive.

hey you don't have a decent pair of closed chamber heads for the altered do ya?

  21. Wheels do it for me - especially Halibrands and American 5 spokes.

Gauges and valve covers. I thought they would help cut down on restoring cars and boats. Seems to have just made it worse.....

mine is blocks, I used to build quite a few engines mostly small block chevy and you can replace everything but a good block(unless yougo high buck)
2 427's 3 454's(one marine) 4 400's 2 bolts 11 350 high nickel 4 bolts, steel cranks to go with most, have a 383 built that I never used, a 350 with 12:1 forged in it, sitting, everything for a 434 small block, never decided on which rod and piston combo to use so I have 2 sets, a set of Pontiac nascar heads for sbc(they were outlawed by nascar). I sold 4 4bolts last time I moved
Oh I wish I could be happy with just collecting intakes, these blocks are heavy. i thought I'd have enough blocks to support my car habit for years, now that I gotten on this board I may need some early hemi's and W motors.

Distributors for me. A motor won't run worth a crap with a weak spark, lazy advance curve, or erratic spark distribution...so the distributor has the power to make it or break it!

Besides, some of 'em look pretty cool too!
