Arizona H.A.M.B.'ers

Southwest Nostlgia Drags & Cruise-In Car Show, we're having our 4th event Saturday March 24th at Speedworld Raceway Park. We're starting to see a lot more Traditional Hotrodders & Clubs come out to enjoy the event, thats why my partner started this thing, was to give us guy's who love the kind of cars a place to go close to town. My partners pretty tight with the Old Time Drag Racers - NHRA Super Stock & A/FX guys, He can get a lot of these cars together and they put on a great show. I'm going to do the car show a bit different this time, it's still going to be a peoples pick with ballots. This time I will have a designated drawing time, we're also doing an award presentation to some of "Arizona's Hotrod Pioneers". We were also wondering how "Shakey Puddin 55" is doing and if he was going to be able to make it this time? He's always a crowd pleaser. My buddy Tim Bennick has a bad ass Anglia that we would like to set up a few match races against you. Hope to see a good showing of H.A.M.B'ers. We're doin it for you guys

I'm in. I'm kinda new to PHX and have never been to this drag strip. Is ther a favored route or anything to avoid? I'm comming from the east side (Tatum & Greenway).

From Tatum & Greenway I would take the 101 west to Bell Rd.- west on Bell Rd. turn right on Grand Ave. to Happy Valley Rd. then turn left. Hot Rod Ron if your Coupe will pass tech - Radiator over flow catch can (Beer Can) - Batterie hold down - Seat Belt - all lug nuts & a helmet you can run it

just slapped a 383 in my 31, I'll be there....

 

I can do all of that but I still think it would not pass due to the rust in the car that is not repaired yet. but will see what happens, no matter what I will be there with the coupe.

 

Hey Spike Just Checking For An Update On Your '49 Chevy?Did You Put The Tunnel Ram On The 455? Is It Running Yet? Curious Let Me Know.

 

Got the tunnel ram on and fired it up Saturday and broke in the cam,sounds awsome. My Buds at Auto and Truck Specialists & J&W Transmissions wired it and ran brake lines I would have never been able to finish it by the race with out them. All the little stuff at the end seems to take so much time, I don't know if it's good or bad to set deadlines on a car build, but it "BY GOD GETS THINGS DONE" see ya at the race.

I know one of the new ones will be a wild '60 Chevy hardtop that'll run in the nines with Reher -Morrison power. Looking forward to seeing that one. I'll post more when know who else is coming.

What kind of tech inspection does a car have to get through? My truck has 19 of it's 20 lug nuts, is that good'nuf?!

I had a very serious dirt bike accident back in early February and I'm on light duty with a neck brace until the end of April. I wont be able to make it Saturday. It sucks I cant race, but I'm glad to be recovering so well. I hope you guys have a blast and please take pics / videos!

 

Wow, man... sorry to hear that. Glad to hear you're doing better though. I saw your car run back in November but missed meeting you. You and that '55 put on a hell of a show!
