Recently saved this from an s****-yard. Much better than the '53 Mercury Two-Door, converted to a convertible, then stuffed with bicycles and left without wheels to sit on the ground. Pretty good for what I have invested in it. Anyway, Its pretty much all complete. A pane or two of gl*** is gone, drive-shaft and rearend is gone, and the wheels. Engine/****** is all together though. Spitfire 6. Rockers are kinda bad, floor is solid about a Foot and a half on either side of the driveshaft tunnel. Gets kinda flakey, and then dissappears after that. Hood...well..Its not too bad, it actually goes back into shape when you push it level with the hood hinges. Other than some rust, surface rust, and an occasional dent, its pretty solid. I got an rusted out and mostly stripped '74 Charger with a 400 that I bought about a year ago. Thought about attempting to clip it. But track looks a little too wide. Ah well...any suggestions?
Just not too sure about the front suspension after its been sitting and scooting around on the ground for so many years. Ah well..and both the Charger and the Windsor were cheap, and rough. But...got a link to anything?
It's got all the bits you need to build a real simple early chrysler roadster with full blown chrysler DNA, other than the roadster body & ch***is.
Too bad I sold a '32 Plymouth Roadster for about $800.00 a year or two ago. Ah well..engine is like one large piece of rust. Most of the parts are in the trunk...so I'm not too sure about it. But for what I have in it, its pretty solid.
Disc brake conversion at: www.rustyhope.com The suspension parts didn't change much for several years, shouldn't be too hard to find replacement pieces. Rebuild kits at: www.robertsmotorparts.com Do a search on the HAMB this style car has been covered many times, lots of upgrades, lots of info. Gene
I feel that I'm a pretty good welder, probably not too good at machining stuff, have alot of parts laying around, and not a whole lot of money. This car is solid, but definetly not pristine and something I wouldn't hesitate to butcher up a little in the name of revival. Thanks for the links, not sure where I'd actually get any Plymouth spindles for this car. I do have a running half-54 or 55 Belvedere. With brakes...and pretty much everything. But not sure if it'd interchange. Foot long driveshaft dosn't help either.
...looks like a lot of work!...what condition was that Chevy coupe next to it in? I've always liked those big 46-8 Chryslers tho..
I have a 40 Windsor setting at my dad's palce. You just don't see windsors that often. If you slap in a big motor, box the frame. I was going to put a 455 in mine, but my dad told me I was libal to twist it up like a pretzel. A lot of my stuff for the frontendI got ay Kanter. Have fun with the build. Most of us know that when the build is done ,we get board with our stuff very easily. Hence the the cl***ifieds on here.
I'll buy those ventshades off of the doors if you're not going to use them. Neat car, I have a '40 Chrysler Royal that's pretty much stock.
My 48 Plym has a 73 cutl*** subframe. I ran an Olds 455 for years in it! Now a 331 Hemi. the 46s frame is probably OEM boxed.
