a few years ago, I had my son-in-law install cable tv in my back garage. i now have heat, color tv with cable, a fridge and a pot to piss in. I'm now thinking about running air conditioning. my wife said I should move my recliner in there and just live there. my question I guess is, dear abby, should I leave my wife and run air or just stay a hot, swetty, mean s.o.b. ?

nah..keep her.( Iheard no mention of kitchen, therefore, you gotta be able to have someone bring you food in your recliner.)

    but run the a/c anyways.

Go for the A/C and keep the wife too. You never know when you might need an extra hand to help lift something :p

You may also want to add a computer and high speed internet too. I know it works great in my garage :D

at least you can turn off the a/c if it get too noisy or cold, I dont recommend trying to turn off the wife if she developes those symptoms

oh god air conditioning in the shop would be sweet, especially here in Texas. only problem is the cost to keep it cool would be some serious bones and i can use that money for new parts and stuff

Yeah, I wish I could afford to A/C the garage. I hate paying the bill to A/C the house.

Once there's a tv in the shop nothing gets done! TV ****s anyway. AC rocks in the shop. Last summer my garage was the coolest place in the house.:D

The house i just bought had the garage converted into a room. The central air and heat was connected with normal duct work. I promptly de-converted it back into a garage and kept the air/heat.

The problem i ran into was any smell from the garage, like fuel, was spread throughout the entire house. The door to the garage is nearly air tight too. Had to disconnect the duct and it's fine now.

  20. I think all this fancy-smansy stuff if for the birds. People ask me, why dont you have a TV or a couch in the shop. The answer is, because I would not be able to get anything done.
I like to work and not be distracted by alot of useless ****. Had a fridge full of beers for awhile, that was the worst thing ever, beer time came earlier and earlier in the day.
I wonder how people lived back in the 50's without AC???, maybe they knew how to ruff it.
You get used to the heat, any heat, just try it.

I guess you need to know how to multi task and know when not to drink

  22. I'd run the A/C. Of course I've been married forever, and would love to live in the garage. I have no heat, no A/C, no tv, but I'd still rather be in there.

OK I get the cable TV, I got it, yeah for the frige, got it, even got a microwave to do popcorn....But come on, recliners, couches, big screen tvs....are you guys gettin anything done in there or what!!!! Paint over spray on the big screen welding flash on the ole couch. Some of these garages seem like just a place to hang out...not get any real work done on the cars. Me, I got two counter stools and an old front seat to sit on. If I want to lounge I'll go up to the finished ba*****t where my big TV and my car art are and chill out there!!!! But oh **** yeah the air conditioning is comin to the garage!!!!

the house I just moved out of had cable and phone intalled in the garage. skipped the phone but the cable came in handy, put a cable box in the garage and hooked up a stereo to the satellite radio channels for uninterupted tunes.

Yeah, O.K., the heat may not be so bad, but between the humidity and the damned mosquitoes, I think that I'd hafta go with the A.C.
