I use the A/C to knock down the humidity - never get it "cool" in the garage, but just knocking 10-15* down and taking the humidity down 50% really really helps...

Used to work on the circle track car all day, get overheated and be wiped when it came time to race... With the A/C it's much better!

It's not so much da heat as it is the gosh darn humidity! A/C keeps the cars, parts, tools, and everything else from rusting. I have a window type a/c unit in my small garage and it is just enough to dry the air out some. That makes all the difference in the world!

I picked up some used stuff and installed a 4 ton AC unit in the shop last fall. It cooled off before it got it all hooked up so I haven't got to try it out in the heat. Wont be long, its 75 here already. Sure hate playing pool in the shop when its 100+ outside and no heat. Fridge has a hard time keeping the beer cold too. Hell I wont be able to run the dogs out this summer!

  4. I love it when guys from California say stuff like that. They have no idea what real heat is!:D

I work on old cars for fun, if I'm sweating my *** off in 100+ temps, it's no fun anymore. I have sattelite, heat, A/C, etc., but I only use the A/C personally, the other is for my ***** friends who complain about what p***es for cold here, and missing their sporting events.

I'm going to put in a A/C unit this spring I think.... I haven't done "enough" out there to warrant it till this year, if it's that hot i'd just not work on the rides, but i'd like to get a lot done on the buick this year, so the a/c will definitely help motivate me!

tv/fridge/kegerator/microwave/heat are all necessities in my book, but i'm out there to enjoy myself just as much as work, so fuk being uncomfortable!

this post makes me miss my last garage, I sold it for a bigger house with a conventional 2 car garage + Land. anyway I had a 40' x 40' block/concrete garage ,14' ceilings, all insulated, full 6' attic, 200 amp in garage,cable,phone,36" exhaust fan for painting,40' X 24' I-beam with trolly system, beer miester, fridge, industrial 8' lighting, floor drains, ac,forced air heat,hot/cold water & a piss tube + a hot tube outside the side door.
my wife used to say we bought a garage with a detatched house,LOL:)

I have heat / air in my shop ... Spoiled yes

Summer time , its too hot and at night the bugs seem to love me ..

Winter time, keeps the tools nice and warm ..
Its only 30 x 30 with 10 foot side walls
....I'd go 30 x 40 on next one with 11 foot side walls so 4 post lift fits better

It costs about 100 bucks a month extra to run heat and air with it set @ 60 winter , turn up when I'm there and 75 summer

I'm old, worked hard , no wife to ***** at me [IMG]
