  1. Thanks for the kind words.

The company I work for makes lasers that cost in the 100s of thousands of dollars. So the etching better come out good:D

As far as making stuff, Im really into it. I cant see not making more stuff for my car. Its loads of fun. And cheaper then buying parts on the bay. Plus etching my name in the stuff is smart*** and thats what i am.

What's with the "billet" bashing?? :p ;) Back in the fifties, billet was not a word in common use, but we would take a chunk of aluminum or steel, or whatever, and machine fuel blocks and logs, coil mounts, and all manner of stuff - "old school" at its best, and certainly not a new thing, even then; but today, it would be "dissed" as billet, by some folks.

Youre work speaks for itself. It is as good as any first timer job I have ever seen, and with practice, you'll develop your talents. Oh, yeah; we used to use br*** fittings if we could get them, otherwise, whatever we could glom on to.

Putting your name on that part made it 50 years old, instantly. Awesome touch.

  4. Im starting to make fuel logs and blocks for myself and friends. I might bring some to shows and just give them to various guys/gals with traditional rods and cruisers.

I can appreciate your effort and the time you spent fabricating the fuel block. I think you did a good job on it, for what it is. But, aesthitically that fuel block looks like another billet p.o.s.
    It has no style.

  6. This "billet" **** needs to be cleared up for me.

What should I make fuel blocks, carb mounts, etc etc out of? What should i use? A old PBR can and a rubber band? Should designs be cut into the alum.? Is it billet causes its shinny? Will flat black paint make it more appealing?

So please explain? Sorry if I came off like an ***hole.

Some people seem to be pretty concerned with looks, what are you building?..... a Hot Rod, right. So the car should be built around necessity and function, not worrying about putting fancy **** on it. You built that piece from scratch and it does its job as it was designed that is what really matters. What is more traditional making your own parts (whatever they may be), or spending hundreds of dollars on a finned block from a catalog that has "traditional" looking parts in it? Great job, wish I had a frickin laser.
