why do i need flamethrowers to get attention ?? because it's frickin cool. there are so many people out there that STILL have never seen a car do this before. to see their reaction is priceless...and then comes the "how'd you do that?" questions. as long as you're not stupid, and make sure that you have a spotter behind your car to keep people and kids back....throwing flames is a real crowd pleaser. pulling into a lot with a cool car is always fun, but when your at a cruise night..that happens over, and over and over car after car. pull into the lot with a cool car, and blast out some flames...now that's cool...
If you want continuous flames, you need a rich mixture and continuous spark. Instead of those rip-off kits, spend a couple bucks at the junk yard and get a wiper motor to spin a distributor in the trunk. You can leave the engine running with the choke pulled and with that distributor/wiper motor combo running and you'll get constant flames. NOT GOOD FOR THE ENGINE THOUGH!!!! Too much gas through the engine is never good! Johnny
As a newbe here reading this entire thread something immediately sticks out her. Hotrodding in its true form is not about going fast, perfomance or any ones perception of guidelines. What hotrodding is about is everyone out there doing their own thing spending their own dime, doing what makes them happy. It is also about helping one another achieving those goals which we individually choose to persue. Wether it is flame throwers, a *****in motor, air suspension, disk brake conversions, radical body mods or just returning the old gal to her original glory. Have we forgotten......Lend a hand to your fellow enthusiast....how is it we can tell somone his dream ****s or doesn't fall within anothers perception of what should be, or what is or isn't cool. Keep your dreams alive, follow your heart and help those in need to achieve their goal.
I applaud Beetlejuice, Thrasher, sharing info with others, trying to achieve a common goal. I personally like flames and think the propane idea is sweet. But sounds like there is further to go to achieve your goal. Independently of this thread I was also searching fpor information for this type of system. I think the propane heater plugs is a very smart move. thats a keeper. I was thinking though....if there was a way to move a certain volumn of air back through the exhaust, in line before the propane injector, would that not prove to sustain flames a longer period of time? I have not been able to come up with an answer. How can you use an impeller or fan to inject air into the exhaust, sort of like a jet engine. I was looking at a set of remote, electrically switched, lake pipe cut-outs as an induction port. I am very interested in your control panel that you built thrasher. I believe with a few people's input we can come up with a safe reliable system. Lets try to solve this together....game you guys?..Jeffrey
Thrasher, Jeffrey here....Can you provide me the manufacturer and part # of the propane heater plugs? Thanks....Jeffrey
All those kits ****!!!!!!!! worse thing you could do to yer motor.. I've been messn with the flames for 12 years.. pulling the choke,, and reving the motor and flicking the switch washes yer rings away ,, also Detonates the rings,, they shatter.. causes' crank case pressure,, over time you'll have oil pumping out yer dip stick tube.. You need to pump the gas in the exhaust.. Again use yer head when messN with them..Spen a few extra buck fer a halon system, you never know.. I have video of my Ford from Billet Proof ,, just need to figure out how to edit it,, I love to post it,, any help or direction would be nice.. ~S
Is it a digital video? If so, just go to www.youtube.com and follow the instructions, it's free and so easy a caveman could do it.
