Can a 170 or 200 dizzy go into these? I need a new one for my 144 and have a 200 that I can use. Will it fit? The 200 has a longer shaft below the gear so I don't want to F anything up.

    thanks

  2. The fords usually drive the oil pump with the distributor. If you use the oil pump drive from the 200 and everything bolts up, you should be OK.

Its been a while since I messed with the 6 cyls so I may be wrong.

60 to62 144's and 170's had narrower oil pump shafts than the later small inline ford sixes

Which means the pump will have to be changed too. Be easier & cheaper to buy a rebuilt dist from NAPA

The distributor shaft itself got bigger in 1965 so the later distributor will not fit the 144 without turning the shaft down. Once you do that, you can use a later oil pump and driveshaft.
