Hi everybody, some friends and I from the Templars CC from Spain, are going to Viva Las Vegas Festival. We will be around LA area from March 30 to april 16. We want to take advantage of as many things as we can. Some of the places we have plans to go are: -Petersen museum. -NHRA museum -So-cal Speed Shop -Mooneyes -Barris shop Can you recomend any other interesting places to visit, related to Hot rods or Kustoms around the area? Something like: Swap meets, Car shows/Parties, Car Parts Shops, Hot rod builders shops, Car museums, Kustom kulture Galleries or expositions, pinstriping shops, etc... We would apreciate your help. Cheers.
Try to make it out to the "Donut Derelicts" in Orange County on Saturday mornings. Can someone give them times and an address? Thanks!
So true. The europeans dont have little taco stands everywhere like they do here! Both of you guys look for me at the VLV carshow. Ill be hanging out with the emperors c.c.
This thread from my trip to the GNRS should help: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157018 On the way from Mooneyes west we also ran across Egfe Machine, Kugels and BDS Blowers. Rule #1 - keep your eyes open and don't be afraid to make U-turns. Other than the must dos like MoodEyes, SoCal, Peterson and NHRA Museum I agree on the Donut Derelicts (and ask around while you're there if anyone's heading over to Jack's Garage - you'll be glad you did.) The biggest surprise (a real sleeper that should be high on everyone's list) is the Justice Brothers Museum. Ask if Ed is around because if he is he'll give you a great tour and you'll get to hear some great stories.
You can check my site to see what shows, cruises, etc. are happening while you're here... SoCalCarCulture

I always wanted to go to the dry lakes, Is it possible to visit nowadays? which one is the best and nearest to LA? I suppose El Mirage, but is it possible to access to the lake bed when there isn't an event happening ? Please let us know if anyone has been there lately and if it is worth it to go. Thanks.
Hi , you can go to El Mirage and enter the lake bed any time. Our rental car did 110mph and was full of dust after the "run". A "must see" if you ask me. Not too far from Pomona (So-Cal Speed shop). Michael
Well I Haven't Been To Spain ! But I've Been To California And The Salt Flats, Always Heavy On The Salt! Save The Salt Your Getting Around Ok, Checking Out The Neat Stuff! I Have Three 54 Buick's - A Special, Two - Century's. All Two - Door Hardtop's. And A Bunch More. My Best. Rich
Sure, we will do everything possible to get to the lakes. Now I see that we should rent a sports car instead of a tipical boring sedan, to test it on the lakes, Rich, are your buick's customized? I would like to see your 54's. Thanks to all the rest for the information, we are counting the days.
