    Hey, Ash!
It was great to have met you--and Tuck and I really liked chatting with you and your dad. Hope the Autorama was as much fun for you as it was for us!
We both agree that the sub was one of the most amazing pieces...can't wait to see the finished product!
    Keep in touch!

Excelsior Tire reproductions --> made by Coker tire. Used mainly by the vintage racecar crowd.

Brakes are an offshoot of what has been going on in the motorcycle world for awhile. Glad to see someone picking up the idea and using it on an automobile.

If someone has some hi-res pictures or addition pictures of Dan Webb's project, please post! I've spent quite a bit of time looking at the bracketry, brake handle, frame design, hubs, axles, etc -- there are a LOT of unique and original (or modern interpretation of classic) ideas incorporated into this project.

Golden Submarine. Interesting to see this brake setup on this car. Looking at the way the disc(disk) is fitted to the rim does this mean the caliper bolts inside the rotor, that would be a different setup.I've noticed that Buell uses this type of brake on some of their models. It would of been even cooler to see an Offenhauser motor in the chassis,at least that's as close to a Miller as you would get these days.Anyway great to see a rodders perspective of a classic 'teens racecar.Keep on roddin'

I am digging the entire car. Amazing workmanship!! Keep the pics coming.

Can someone tell me about the rearend & brake setup? I understand the underlying brake setup, its the hub and mounting that is puzzling. It appears to be running a full floating hub setup, but I don't see a caliper mount on the hub nor a connection to the housing. I would very intersted in a schematic.

    Thanks

When I saw this car this past weekend me and my dad stared at it for a while, commenting on the intricate design. Suprisingly most other people I noticed just gave it a glance over. I didnt know all the history behind it, but appreciate it even more not afer reading a few of these posted links! Very cool car.

Oh you have no idea Jimmy...it makes me want to start on a new chassis for something right away. I spent an hour looking at it, and know I missed stuff.

I cleaned this post up a bit... The work here is too inspirational to let some folks get thier uneducated words in.

I'd love to see more pics of this chassis. And someone post a pic of that rendering please!

ProEnfo -- thanks for posting the additional chassis shots!

Ashley -- Please keep us updated on the project through the "bare metal" stages if you would/could. (I fully realize it needs to be hidden until the painted/finished debut at SEMA) Is there any plans for a rollcage within the bodywork structure itself? I like the tie-in ala the grille / stance and other items per your own project -- was this intentional via Dan / Thom?

note: I've seen the recreation of the Miller Golden Sub many years ago when it debuted at the Monterey Historics and Pebble Beach. I've also seen it go down the road and around the dirt track also since. Hopefully this iteration of the Golden Sub will be the same -- I think it would be awesome to see it on the asphalt and also flat tracking on a dirt track all crossed up before powering down the straight away! (The skinny narrow tires would make this easy to do)

  28. Adjusted the Thom Taylor photo for HemiFarris. Here it is.

  29. I love that you are recreateing the Golden Sub, that is one of my favorite Miller cars of all time. There is another out there in the world somewhere, cause they had one at a Miller reunion a few years back. Haven't seen it though. Good Luck!
