Good for Troy, he deserves every award he gets. But for 2 mil, I'd rather have a P-51! And y'all know how much I love '36 Fords!
Damn... that car is bad ass. Just think of how boring this world would be if everyone built RAT RODS... or even TRADITIONAL HOT RODS... I mean... that's all guys built back in the 40's and 50's... right? Traditional hot rods. It got so boring that MOST guys went on to the next thing with their personal cars... and THAT morphed into what we have today... all the different genres of "old cars" that include even that Ridler winner. Only a few guys were dead to the world and kept their cars pure... and most of those didn't get driven and THAT'S why they stayed pure and are "survivors" today. So to that I say that car is bad ass! Sam.
That 36 rocked....Troys work was(and is) outstanding and the car was breathtaking. The workmanship on that car and others at the show were top notch to say the least.
the tan 32 named "undisbutible" was shipped on a plane because they ran out of time. the roof was damaged during the shipping process. my bro works for troy, so i've been fortunate enough to see the build of that car day by day for the past several months. There are so many details that no one can see that are even more mind blowing that what is exposed. example, is anyone wondering where the front brakes are???..or the rest of the rear suspension??
"28k hours @ $40 an hour" $40 an hour??? Where the hell do you guys live? They get $50 and hour to do friggin' front end alignments and tune-ups on a '98 Camry around here? I would guess $80+ per hour is much more realistic.
the car has all disc brakes. the front brakes are inside of the hubs, in each hub there are 4 calipier disc brakes, the brake line is actually the control arms, with a hold bored through the entire arm. The rear has wilwood disc brakes which are inside the what looks like inboard drum brakes. the rear suspension is actually coil-overs which are inside the car. I could go on forever. the coolest part, the car is completely functional!
