Is there such a thing? Now that the snow is melting I started looking at the abone and found a heap of mouse droppings. I think I remember reading that putting your car on jack stands with the stands in pans of kerosene keeps the mice out. Has anybody tried that? Any other ideas?

I just keep setting traps out with peanut ****er in them. No other trick I've tried works - leave a light on underhood, leave hood open, mothballs, etc........... all failed. And I don't like cats.

If you are OK with cats, it's hard to beat them--they work a whole lot better and cheaper than anything else. Make the car part of the cat's territory--put his bed and bowl in the car. He'll defend that even better than the rest of his turf. And don't overfeed him...a lean cat pays a lot more attention to a mouse than a fat one will! Not only will he kill off the mice in your garage, the carnivore scent is a strong deterrent to new mice coming in. No trap will do that.
Best if cat is an indoor cat, too--if he can roam the world, he may prefer prey out there to the offerings in your garage.

  4. I like the bucket of antifreeze and the spinning can trick, I used to empty 10-15 mice at a time till I had a wild cat adopt me now I'm mouse free but have to feed the ***** daily

I have a mouse problem in my house in France, the furry little ******s get inside the stone walls and pop out here and there. Don't use poison as they die in inaccesible places and stink the place up. I'm still trying to find a solution but the old fashioned spring style traps still work well, I use stinky french cheese and "Pe*** Lucifer" brand traps! My wifes late stepfather was a butcher and when he was an apprentice they had a problem with a real wiley rat in the ba*****t of the shop, he offered to catch it for a promotion. He used some bran soaked in blood mixed with dry plaster of paris, put down a big bowl of water. Next morning one dead rat with solid plaster interior.

    HaHaHaHa!!! I love it JOE!!!!

When I lived at another house with a big field a few years ago, my garage wasn't the best. One day I went to get my Charger out for a drive and noticed that the headliner had a couple of Dime-sized holes in it....Damn field Mice!!!! Never been so pissed...it was the original headliner! It still bugs me, to know that them little ******s were in there.....I still sometimes park it out in the temp carport at my new house when I need the shop space....but check on it regularly......
    I hate mice!!!!

Mothballs work OK and the smell almost goes away by the time next winter rolls around. Little *******s packed about a pound of dog food in my Sportster pipes one year, came out like buckshot when I fired it up. Might try the jackstand trick next year.

  14. I'd think 10-15 mice a day would be enough for a cat.

I agree with bnkrpt311. I have been using drier sheets for years in the cars that I store, and have never had a rodent problem. They sure beat the smell of moth balls, too.

Replace the mouse with a rat.

Or better yet, a Flathead, Nailhead or Hemi.

    That was easy.

  19. A can is suspended over a bucket of water or coolant with a wire or string running through the top to bottom axis so it'll spin. Put some peanut ****er on the can. Have someway for the mice to get to the wire the can is on, like a stick from the edge of the bucket to the floor. The mice will climb the stick, across the wire and step on the can, the can spins and the mouse falls into a liquid demise. :D

See Junkyard Dog 32's diagram for the set-up.

  20. Water is better because you can just dump it out, and no chance of anyone's pet drinking it.

Another couple of tips on regular mouse traps....

You can use them without bait if you put them so the small trigger end is right up against the wall. Mice travel along the corners, especially in the dark, so lay your traps in their natural path and you never really even need bait.

For sure and certain death of the intruder, drive a few nails up from the bottom of the trap.

I had been using spring traps with peanut ****er on them, but the mice were able to lick it off without springing the trap. I set them so they were real sensitive, but no luck. I think the traps aren't very good. I made the water bucket with the spinning can trap, mentioned above, and caught 3 the first night, and get one every other day or so now. It's even got the same peanut ****er on it. It works better than any other method I've found.

Before you smear the peanut ****er tie some string on the bait area of trap.... THEN smear the trap and string with peanut ****er.

The mice are too greedy and stupid to just lick it clean......they have to gnaw and pull on the string.....to their demise!

    I never have empty traps!

I also have a metal box with spring loaded ramps on each end through a small hole....once you catch one mouse....LEAVE IT.... mice are one of the few animals that scream for help...soon the trap will be full!

I left it for a week one time (late fall) and when I checked it, you couldn't cram another mouse in it...maybe about 14 mice in there...one was 1/2 eaten.

The trap is called "The TIN CAT"

"Bounty" drier sheets in the car = no mice. Used them in cars and my camper for years. Works better than anything else I've tried .

PO of my car used moth balls. 3 years later and a few carpet shampoos later, it still smelled. New carpet fixed it.

    DON'T USE MOTH BALLS!

After the third time one of those damn traps popped me in the thumb, I told my wife that we could finally get the cat she always wanted.
No more mice, and I didn't ahve to use the shotgun in the kitchen!
