The Last Junk Yard I call

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NONAME, Mar 14, 2007.

  1. this the last place I call for two reasons
    1. I feel their prices to be on the HIGH side
    2. They always seem to have the part I need

I think that works out to-
Their prices are an the high side BECAUSE they have the parts you need... yes?

I'm usually stuck with "NO, we don't have that...what is that?!?"
    :D

  8. That's another reason I hate these guys. they just say "we got it $****X.00 and it's yours!"

I have a 270 Dodge Hemi with a rebuilt cast iron push ****on torqueflite sitting on the shelf in my shop. I guess I just need a truck to put it in hahaha

  9. Wonder what the price tag was on that 6-carbed W engine. :D

  10. Noname; You should be Damn glad All American is there. If it were not for them every Car you photographed would have been run through the Crusher. 90 percent of these cars came from Hulk Haulers on there way to the scales.
If you think there prices are High your living in the past. What was your time worth spent going other places first "not" to find what you need?
Do you have any idea what that chunk of land is worth in the fastest growing County on the West Coast?
I'm one of the Lucky ones to have them in my back yard. It's the First place I go and generally the only one. Personally I'm going to do all I can to make sure they stay here.
The intire crew is very knowledgable and will describe a part over the phone exactly the way it is, no puff to make a sale. They are all Car guys and do this for the Hobby as much as for a pay check.

Yeah, a place like that should pay you when you take the parts you need. Acres of vintage sheetmetal that nobody else has, hard-to-find parts nobody has, and the price all that steel would bring on the crushed market...they've got some nerve!

I guess I just never understand people squaking about a place, business or person making a profit. Supply-and-demand: The marketplace will set the price.

I don't know about you guys, but whenever I go to a salvage yard, I will always attempt to get them to drop on the price - haggle with them, if you will. Especially if it is a part I 'want' rather than absolutely 'need.' Typically, I'll buy it anyway, but it never hurts to ask.

Don't take what you have for granted. All the yards here have crushed all the cars over 15 years old. Went back to Washington ( Mason County ) where my wife is from and 2 of the 3 yards I used to go to there are crushing all the old cars. That's just up the coast from you. I wish I would have bought 10 cars when I was out there and shipped them back. Too late for that now. Out here, even if you were willing to pay the price, you're SOL because 99% of the old stuff is gone already and it costs too much to ship the big parts.

Wow, you guys need to ease up a bit, it didn't sound like he was ragging on them much, just that he knows they know they have the parts, and will be making people pay above the going rate for them.

For some reason, everyone has forgotten that hot rodding was built on the back of the "best bang for the buck" mentality. If junkyard "A" has all the parts, but twice the cost of junkyard "B", which only has some parts, people would be stupid just to pay more. Hell, I'm running parts that came out of the s****yard, from "junk" engines and cars sold for weight. Doesn't get much cheaper than that, unless it's free.

I with you on that Stevo. I found a truck on Ebay and was talking to the guy. It didn't sell. Not even a bid. It has a 'should run' 360 in it with PB. Most of the body is gone and I really don't care. He called me last night to say they'll give him $75 at the s****per and he'd rather not do that. I'm going to fetch it on Saturday. I don't even have a project to put it in but I think my 66 F250 will end up with PB on Sunday and the motor on the stand. THEN the rest of the truck can go bye-bye and I'll get at least $25 in s****!

Isn't American capitalism wonderful...they got it, you want it, you pay what they want...or do without.

Besides where else you gonna find it...??

They aren't in business to GIVE it to you (or whatever you feel it's worth).

  21. DAMN YOU ARE PISSED.
I will not try to explain how this post started. ALL American is ****ing Disneyland for rodders. when I said it's the last place I go! it's because I can always find what I need and don't have to search any further.
I don't give a flying **** what property values are or where they get their parts or even what they charge! but with WalMart building a few blocks away they'll go down, just like Wades just down the road. 65 years I've seen some of the best yards in the country disappear in the dust.
