Who's driving to Tulsa, OK for the Burried Plymouth Event? If you don't already know about the burried plymouth, use the search button, it's been covered again and again... no need to rehash it here. Current schedule of events can be found at http://www.buriedcar.com I'm planning making an epic 3,000 mile road trip out of it with my 8yr old son in my '50 Plymouth. From Idaho to Tulsa. It'd be fun to connect along the way with other hambers making the trip . Who's in? Here's my tenative route, I'll probably break the 1,550 one way miles into three 500+ miles days (roughly corresponding to the pins on the map), leaving on June 12th and arriving in Tulsa on the 14th: Pete
I've been thinking about it for the last 2-3 years. Not sure if I can pull it off or not. I'd be heading south from Des Moines, so our paths wouldn't cross until we hit Tulsa. We'd be driving the family truckster (the trusty '03 Olds Silhouette), not as much fun as your trip. That van's been to Seattle in 2005 and Orlando in 2006 and hasn't failed us...yet.
I'm planning to go, but I won't come anywhere near your route. I'd kinda like to have my 3 door '60 Fury welded up by then, but if not, I'm going to bring my daily beater for mileage and dependability. I really want to know what the car is going to look like.
Man, I wish I could be there, but I'm taking summer classes so I can be out of school ASAP. I think they're digging her up on my birthday. -Dave
Somewhere I heard the whole buried car thing is a hoax. Made up by some fancy ad agency to introduce us to the new Hyundai ShtMxr...
I hear the hotels are already booked. You will be lucky to get within site of the event. Alot of people have been making plans for several years. Check out the Forward Look Site for the real inside scoop.
Crap ,I moved to Tulsa 26 years and this is the first time I can remember (thats the key) ever hearing about the Plymouth. Man do I feel stupid! I new about the celebration, but had heard notin about no Plymouth. Just went to the web site and my jaw dropped to the floor. I have been livin in my own little misinformed world!!!
Me and a buddy are coming from Kentucky, but haven't decided if we're flying in or riding the bikes. Not sure how crowded the event will be since the car exhumation is going on a few months before the Tulsa celebration. Should be fun regardless. - RB Roadster
Buckle could fill in more, but, the rumor is that it's gotten quite commerical and that basically they are just going to display the car at a football field or some such. The acutal dig wont be open to viewing. Now this is second hand but, if your taking time off of work or if it's a long haul you may want to check out the forward look website for more information. Sounds like it could be not as cool as it first sounded.
my buds and i comin up from los angeles. we are planning on renting a van or something. and camping!! yeahhhh.
I've read through a fair amount of the posts but couldn't find any mention of someone taking video? I hope to see some here as I won't be able to make it.
