$199, sounds pretty good! How did you mount them to the floor? http://www.gpautocrafters.com/customer/product.php?productid=1&cat=0&page=
the ones Bud posted that are usually sold on e-bay are the closest i have seen to the originals. his are aluminum representations of the stainless ones like 3wlarry has in his coupe i believe the problem with originals is the height of the back. they're a bit too tall for in alot of the low little roadsters. so most people make them shorter i am working on plans to do a seat pretty close to the b-29 seat like in the pierson bros coupe. the ones in the car i pictured earlier are copied from a stainless seat for patterns but then shortened with different beads and whatnot i wasnt trying to make exact copies when i do the b-29's im going to try to make them pretty accurate but they arent going to be cheap because they have some areas that need to be shaped over a hammerform. and some forming around the back. i'm anxious to get one made for a prototype and see how they come out but i have been tied up with other projects lately Zach
I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag or make any promises here... but I'm hoping by next year to have a prototype of a seat built that will knock you on your rears... or at least sit on your rears! I know patience is impossible, so that's all I'm saying... no more clues. You'll see 'em first in my Murray. If you dig bombers you will like these I think. Just need to get things together before I can say what's going to happen with them... Don't you hate it when someone does that!! EDIT: Wow! I just read my post... waaay conceited sounding. Sorry! Don't get the wrong idea. Probably won't be THAT cool... Just hoping to bring something new to the table we can use. I'll keep you posted as things happen.
Yeah, alot of the originals are too big. We are scaling them down for use in Model A's, etc. No pics as of yet but they are coming...
Frank is starting to make "cut down" versions of his seats to fit in all the chopped and channeled cars. Just wanted to give a heads up to you guys.
He sells them for 1000 for the pair on ebay with aircraft seatbelts (not WWII belts but the later versions).
Would anybody by chance know the prices of the http://www.nostalgiaflameworks.com/ bomber seats? I emailed them a while ago but they havent replied
Drew at Marty's in Sycamore,Illinois sells bomber seats. Give em a call and i'm sure he'll take care of ya.(815) 895-2179
Bud, You holding out on me? That looks like an interesting project. You have that hidden somewhere? Bring the story and more pics. tuesday. Mike
Here's another source of aluminum seats - racing - but look good. http://www.vintage31.com/products/V31_RaceSeat_datasheet.pdf There's also a lightweight aluminum sports seat shown on the site.
They're just sitting in there now, but there are a few spots where you can drill some holes, and stick some bolts through.
Man, I haven't checked the HAMB for a few days and a thread that I can actually give an intelligent response to gets right past me! My partner Dave and I make several different styles of Bomber Seats here at the House of Fabrication. We usually sell 'em on Egay, they have been fairly popular. I can post some pics if anyone is interested. We make frames for traditional styled modified roadsters and coupes, too.
Scott and Dave do great work with different designs. Fast service and deal them to several of the "big guys" so a lot people already have theirs. Get the photos up Scott!
Ditto that!! BTTT!! Would like to hear more!! Keep this going. Maybe this can be the unofficial "bomber seat resource".
Ok, Here are some photos of a few styles that Dave and I make. They go for less than 500 bucks a pair. We also make the botom cushions, too. I can also make cushions for the seats that the other guys make. Quality is important to us at the House of Fab, so I use "limo" foam in the seat bottom and s***ch everything myself. Right now we are real busy building frames, but are planning to make a run of 10 or so pairs of seats. Here's a shot of some of our seats that were put in a Dusenburg ch***is by the owner. those cushions were made by his upholsterer. Leather, real nice (and super expensive) He put in the seat belt slots, we usually don't cut 'em becouse of all of the possibilities of angle, size, etc.. This shot gives a good sense of the cushion proportions, though. We also built a few sets of "flamed" patterned seats, but they might have strayed a little too far off of the tradional style.
Kick *** You mentioned that you were going to do a run of 10 pairs... can you make just one pair, if I were to order at a later date, or should I jump on one of the sets you are planning to make now? - Matt
Ditto on that! PM me and let me know when you're going to have some seats ready. I desperately need some seats for my ride and yours are KICK ***!!!
I have a set...do not know if they are orriginal or home made. I paid 400.00 for both, will take the same. If interetsed, I will get pics.
