How do you remove the rocker panel trim on a 54 chevy? I don't see any access from above the rocker panel, and I do see screws under the rocker but these don't seem to do anything for the trim. Any help would be great
    Thanks

    hey Chris,

Look for a fastener in the skirt area of the front fender where the
trim ends. Maybe , also in the wheelhouse of the quarter. These
will loosen the ends of the trim. You next will probably have to pry
the trin from the remaining clips with a large bladed screw driver.
Do this from the bottom, and go very slowly.

possibly by putting some upward pressure on the trim while trying to peel it away at the top or maybe the opposite?just a guess but easy enough to try

yea, there are just clips that fit into square holes in the rocker

  6. I was able to slid my rocker trim off toward the front of the car (might have been easier because my fenders were off), so I wouldn't just start busting the clips off unless you have to.

The replacement clips I got from Chevsofthe40s come with mounting hardware that looks like a bolt with a rectangular flat head. There's a nut and a washer that holds the hardware to the rocker from the backside. The clip mounts to the head of the hardware and the rocker trim mounts to that.

As said before, be careful...that trim bends easily. Good luck.

Most rocker trim has a trim clip with threaded stud which mounts to the lower front fender with a nut and lock washer. The same may be found at the rear, but not always.
The rest of the moulding has clips which socket into the rocker panels into either square or round holes. These are usually removed by prying gently at the moulding clip with a broad flat tip screwdriver or very stiff putty knife. If the moulding have exposed screw heads showing chances are most of the factory clips are rotten or broken and sheet metal screws have replaced most of them, a shame since filling those holes in the moulding is not easy.
The key here is to be very careful and take your time.

  10. on mine i just carefully pried & slid it off with a putty knife. if you're going to shave it, who gives a fuck about the clips? save the trim though, that's parts money! if you're not shaving it, wouldn't you rather replace them anyways? i really don't see how anyone could reuse those damn things.

Thanks for the help everyone. It turns out that whoever put the trim on last ran 6 inch long bolts clean through the other side of the rocker pannel. It just so happend that when I was feeling around under there I didn't feel them but after I lifted the car I noticed what was going on. Again, thanks for the help
