It is if you're into restoring old fire trucks. Looks like a 40/41 Ford pumper. I doubt if it's a LaFrance.
it is pretty rough ..but someone with a few years to kill could save the old beast Could be kind of neat for someone ? --No ?
It's fixable if you REALLY wanted it, but replacing all the missing firetruck-specific kit on it would get real spendy real fast. There are a lot of restored and cherry unrestored firetrucks out there since they often stayed in continuous service for 30 or more years, and even then usually had ultra-low mileage on them. This one is probably destined to be parts only. Although the box would make a neat wrecker body.
there's a guy who had a picture in one of the firefighter magazines took a similar truck, cut it in half and made a liquor bar down in hid ba*****t
Kid to Toad in American Graffiti "man what a waste of machinery" ps Hey squeaky Mc Tight*** ..Give Ryan his 50 bucks , join the alliance You get this real neat tag and discounts (which will go along way!)
Definately a 40-41 1ton plus Firetruck Conversion. The conversion company got a cowl and ch***is, then added their "roadster" windshield frame and body.
I agree it's 47ish Ford. Does it still have the flathead in it? Big trucks like that sometimes had some of the more desirable engine blocks in them. If the flathead is still there, see if there are any markings on the top of the bellhousing. Then report back what you find.
Reminds me of one of the vehicles they used in the old 60's TV show,"the Rat Patrol".Set in North Africa during WWII.
LRDG, Long Range Desert Group. The predecessors to the infamous SAS, from which David Sterling the founder of the SAS came. They did use some early 40-41 Fords but moved on to 41 Chevy Trucks as there were more availability (Made by a number of company's, not just Chev) The one pictured is NOT an ex LRDG vehicle, wrong box! A miss conception of the vehicles is that they were cobbled together from whatever could be found. These trucks were built from the factory for a purpose and as different patrols my use different vehicles they were all the same save armament. Each patrol would have a hodge podge collection of whatever they could lay there hands on. See, more useless information..................... Hey, its a truck, maybe it has an original ARDUN motor!!
A guy a few miles north of me did that. Hell, he's probably on the board, some of his friends are. He's always hauling people around at the Good Guys show in Des Moines.
i would worry more about how the gophers have torn up your yard.. ... well it is less to mow! paperdog
