The 3-pc doesn't look too bad exposed, in my opinion. WEll It is at least cleaner than those CLUNKY guards
I'm pretty sure that the one-piece bumpers were a California item - the cars sold in Cali came with them. My '50 coupe has them, and it was originally a California car. I know they are harder to find. Maybe some other markets got them, too. Anyone else know more about this, or why different areas got different bumpers?
Yes they did... Aaron from 50chevy.com knows what works for 1pc ... he had told me awhile ago cause i was looking for my 50 chevy.. just cant remember what he said... Im still missing the middle section of my front.. but if you go to his site and shoot him an email hes real good with answering questions you might have..
There were some other markets that got 1-piece bumpers....no sure on the specifics regions, but I know many Canadian cars came with 'em. Bryan
Yes Canadian cars came with one piece bumpers also, the bumpers on my 51 came off of a Canadian car...
I have come across both styles & had "heard" but have not been able to verify as to what plant(s) used the one piece bumpers.
I heard that West Coast and Canadian cars came with one piece bumpers which were more costly to make, and that is why these regions got them because they had weather to permit it. It would have cost GM a fortune to release one piece bumpers in the East Coast due to all the rust issues, because you would have to replace the whole bumper blade as oppose to individual pieces. I guess the US was still watching how they spent on metals back then because of the war.
