When I joined the HAMB I had just purchased a 33 Ford Coupe. I was going to cut the top and put a chevy in it. Of course update, running gear, brakes and all the other things needed. I have always wanted a fender less highboy. My neighbor down the street saw it delivered, he came down and offered me 4 times what I paid for it. (900 vs 3500) As I do not need money that bad I said no. He has been upping his offer and today came down with a 9000 cahiers check. It is a CA car with a real ***le (pink slip).

I still want a highboy. I will give half of the 9K to my buddy that got me the car. What should I do???

I don't think anybody can really tell you what to do it all depends on how much you love the car

  4. There are many questions that need ask youself if you should sell or not.

    1. Can I find another car like this and of this quality?
    2. When will I be able to find a suitable replacement?
    3. Do I want to cut this car, drop in a SBC, update brakes, update suspension etc? It all equals $$ and time.
    4. Can I look my friend in the face and tell him that I sold the car?

I would keep it and not drop in a SBC. I also would not chop that car. 33's are way to cool as is. Strip off the fenders, put them in storage, they are getting costly to find good pieces, in case needed later. Upgrade the brakes and suspension, replace that tired flathead with a fresh flathead and have fun.

You probably won't find a '33 so the question is do you mind gl*** vs, steel and you should know a gl*** '33 body with fenders is $11K and frame extra. Keep it.

I would love to see pics of this car, god damn I love 33-34 coupes....but if its not your cup of tea, then sell it to someone who WANTS it, and find something that your heart is in. It will make it ALOT easier to find motivation to build about 18 months into it.

I tell you what, you found a steal at $900 for a 33 coupe

    Cut it!!
Put whatever motor you want in it!
    I doubt you'll find a replacement for $4500! Especially 33/34!
Throw your buddy a couple of bucks just for helping you find it!

It doesn't matter if its a 3 or 5 window, if it is near complete ad has all of the neccessary pieces its worth a lot more than $9000. If you paid $900 for it last year, you got a smokin deal. If you split the profit with your friend, you would barely be able to build a ch***is, with the money left. Your neighbor obviously knows what its worth if he keeps coming back with bigger offers. I know a few people who throw out ridiculous low ball offers frequently to people who have untouched projects or old hot rods. Sometimes they get stuff for a fraction of the price. They usually sell it within a year and double their money.

Could we see some pics of this car.. If your not full of **** and the neighbor keeps uping the price you may be sitting on like 20 to 30 k worth of car! Now we would have to see pics and good ones to help you but dont sell your self short. And 9k as opposed to 900.00 is a lot but then again if its not a cherry 30k car what would it be worth finished? Pics my man Pics....
