I am a member of the Blackhawk Museum ( www.blackhawkmuseum.org ) in Danville, CA and friends with at least one of the Docents. I'd like to try to put together a guided tour for HAMBers if anyone is interested.

    I'm thinking like mid-April on a Saturday.

    Who'd go?

We went to the Blackhawk the day after going to the 50th GNRS in So. San Francisco and thought it was an awesome place.
Went back a few years later on a road trip up the coast to Washington and there was enough changes to make it not like a "Summer Rerun".

    The place is awesome.
Not only are there the cars but there's a "The Car in Fine Art" wing too.
I highly recommend it to anyone who likes anything with wheels on it.

Can you maybe arrange "back room" and/or Archives/Library access on this proposed jaunt?

Exactly. While it's not a literal hot rod collection, the roots of hot rod ideas are there if you are smart enough to see them.

If I wasn't 3,000 miles away I'd be there for your tour! The one car in that collection that I'd personally love to own is the 1919 Hudson Indy car that Ira Vail drove to 8th place.

    Just say when!
I should have gone already but I haven't gotten around to it in the 5 years I have lived out here.
I just hope I can get the Ford running in time so I don't have to show up in a Honda

    Kirk,
Count me in if the weekend is right also! I know a guy too that used to work there and had a lot of seat time in the personal collection. He always told me that he would give me a private tour sometime but we never got around to it.

Hell, I would definately go. I only live 1.7 miles down the road from the museum. I have been a couple of times and I love it every time.

    Count me in for sure.

    KIRK-

I'll come too.. IF you don't try to touch me in my "bikini area" again...
Even though the lighting is low in the museum, that doesn't mean we're on a date. Blackhawk does rule.

What a great place, we were fortunate enough to be asked to display my race car there in 2003, It was cool but kinda wierd, we had to wear slacks and neck ties at the function. Count me and 3 others in.

  27. It's been a few years since I've seen it.
    Sounds great!

  28. I'm friends with the guy who runs the book store... I can ask any Q's if you have them about that end.

How about a cruise through the hills after the tour and wind up at a Greasy Burger Joint for lunch? There's John's buger in Livermore... we could then head over to my garage for a garage crawl... I'll buy some beer... it'd be FUN!
