Hey, Huntington Beach HAMBer's, what going on at the donut shop? I went there this morning, bought my coffee and donut, turned around to look over the hot rod island between the donut shop and the gas station and there was a bunch of vans parked there. VANS! It left a bad taste in my mouth. Some didn't even have the courtesy to park in one space but hogged two. It's part of the ambiance of Saturday morning to see hot rods parked out side of the donut shop. Take your vans and go find your own corner to flop you lawn chairs.

Accasionally that happens. Some groupe decides to CRASH the party. Went there once and a bunch of tuner cars took over the front of the Doughnut shop. The hotrod guys were pissed! I think that's why it starts so early,so the hotrod guys can park in the front.

Is that what the MOTORCYCLE GUYS should have said about the HOTRODS when the hotrods invaded the Donut Derelicts the MOTORCYCLE GUYS STARTED years ago?

    I didn't think so...

    SO SHUT THE **** UP!!!!

DD Rule #1, there are NO rules.
DD Rule #2, there is NO one "running the thing" making rules.
    DD Rule #3, see #1

It's the NO ****ING LEADER, NO ****ING RULES, NO ONE'S IN CHARGE way it is that makes it work so well.
I repeat, it was started by the motorcycle guys.
It works because NO ONE tells anyone what they can bring ro the Donut Shop, as it should be!
Van owners are as welcome as anyone else, and if ya want the "prime real estate" ya just have to get there earlier.

And no, I'm not mad, just sayin it like it is...

Hey,does "J" stand for JACKHOLE? Just kidding DrJ. I understand where you're coming from, but I also hate it when people ruin a good thing. Maybe there's no "written" rules, but why do **** just to stir things up. Bobs,on Friday nights, used to be a hotrod event, hangout. Now it gets full of tuner and DUB ****. Not worth going anymore. Hate to see that happen to Derelics. Vans.....so what, but not in the front!

yea i was there, i saw them, and i agree with them putting a bad taste in your mouth. but at the same time i can say that about the majority of the cars that go there, theres usually only about a dozen cars or so that i enjoy and the rest do nothing for me. i especially liked the tandem axled, gullwing door, ****gin wagon with the star wars mural all over it and what is the deal with the guy in the green merc? "s****e" what time does that guy get there in order to have the same spot every weekend? im not complaining, i have decided that its just not worth getting up that early for something that i dont enjoy anymore, its time to move on and start over somewhere else.

on another note, did you see that Mercury woody wagon? man that car was nice.

    Hey,
I know the guy that built that car originaly, and it didn't look anything
like that! he'd **** a phonebook if he saw it today.

The van deal is something of an anomaly, in the last five years that's
the first i've seen of it. I've never seen less than 3-4 real '32s every
    saterday in that time.

I went a couple of times. Long run for me, leave at 4:30AM to make the show.

A friend of mine stopped by one Sat. AM on the way back from Bonnevile. Salt on the truck. trailer and race car. It was a 2 club record setter. He had to take two spots for the rig. Some Cobra & tuner dudes told him to move his POS.

    I will not return,

If you want exclusive rights to limit use of a public parking lot,
    then BUY it!
We shouldn't be so judgemental of other types of rides even if they look gross. They serve to make real hot rods look more appealing.
If all car freaks wanted to be trad style guys, we woudn't be unique.
Enjoy being who you are and our individuality!

Besides, Vans are more suited to getting laid.

you must be thinking of a different car, this merc was beautiful, i didnt pay much attention to the interior but the body and paint were perfect and there was no "lowrider" stuff to speak of.

and as far as the vans, they have every right to be there as any other vehicle, i understand that it is a car show and not a hot rod show. i would however like to get something more hot rod oriented at a different location, somewhere that serves more than just donuts.

HAMB -n-eggs is always a good time in HB, but it would be nice to have an informal parking lot gathering on Saturdays. I made it over to Original Mike's cruise in Santa Ana this afternoon. Nice location...old car dealership turned restaurant...big lot would be deserted on a Saturday morning.

Bob's was cranking Friday night,a couple guys I saw Sat. said they didn't leave 'til 11 or so. When the temps are warm, it doesn't matter what time of year it is , Bob's 'll take off. Come buy and pick me up Bob!

i found a location that i think would work very well, its a resturant called Poppa Z's (i think thats how its spelled) its on Magnolia and Garfield and it has a big parking lot. it opens at 7 and they have great food at a great price, they have a great pancake/french toast meal for $4.25 (french toast, bacon and eggs) and all their food is similar in price. just something to think about.

  21. Rules, or not, i have to say it's kinda known that Friday night Bob's is for older cars. I think it's ****ing rude when guys show up in newer Caddies or Vettes (thinking they don't ****) and park front row. It's not why we go there. I was having my driveway done a few weeks ago and took a "nothing" car to Bob's. Turns out, my favorite spot on the point was open. I took it ONLY to give it to the first cool older car that came in so's a "nothing" car wouldn't get it for the whole night, and then I parked down the street. Oh yeah, the motorcycles? I'd say **** them too. NINETY PERCENT are junk noone wants to see anyway. The cool 10%, bring em.

Somebody gonna call it? I'm up for an alternate to Donuts.

  30. Hahaha... I went there one morning and saw about 50 Mini Coopers... but they parked two cars in one space...!!!!:D

    "*******s"... I say...!!!!

Don't worry.. it changes from week to week... but I do like the Idea of a "Roving Cruise spot"... doesn't allow people "out of the know" to throw out their anchor and babysit their spot with lawn chairs!
