steering wheel help

    help i just restored my steering wheel for my 53 ford p/u. it took a puller to get it off. i put the nut on it and tightened it down but it doesno't go down far enough. how do i install it correctly without damaging the paint?

    missing a spacer of some sort?

    Can you pull the collum outter tube up. I had the same problem with my steering collom. Didn't realize the outter tube was moveable.
