I bought this NOS Ford speedo at an estate sale for a buck. It has zero miles on it and was in a very tattered box. It is in mint condition. It is complete with a trip odometer and a reset ****on on the end of a small cable. It has a date of September 1959 and a KOLF part number on it. Any ideas what kind of vehicle it is for?
Strange--gotta be European Ford, I think, and I don't know that stuff after flathead days... May relate to Koln Ford operation...put the little dots over the "o" yourself...Cologne is one of their main plants. I've got a 1959 car yearbook, and will try to see what furrin Fords were drifting over here. I'm thinking Taunus, or perhaps Anglia, bu I think German. Eyeball the thing for any writing...
A Ford speedometer has the base part nunber 17255. It would have a prefix like B9A or C0AZ and perhaps a suffix of -A or -B etc.. The first letter of the prefix indicates the decade (B-50s, c-60s, D-70s and so on), the number the specific year or year this parts started being used, 9=59 etc. The following letters make reference to body style or model.
Sorry guys, I had brain fade. The numbers on the back of the speedo are:57700-COLF-17255-C-SEPT-59. It laso has the FOMOCO script at the top.
dang beat me to it, I had my guys check the ford books and it says 1960 Lincoln continental or premier.
