I can remember bringing home a roof for my 1970 Camaro from the junkyard in my brother's 65 Cutlass convertible with the top down. We looked like we had a giant surf board sticking out of the back seat.

The previous owner of the Cutlass convertible had been doing roofing and siding and it was common to see the car driving around town with the top down and ladders hanging out of the car.

The trunk lid looks like somebody was ice skating on it....there have been so many ladders dragged across it.

I drive mine as a no shi$$in daily driver; school, work, and roadtrips for enjoyment. Now that we just rebuilt the motor I can take it even farther.

  7. I drive mine every weekend (in this "in progress" condition) all over town. Since I got the motor swapped, Ill be driving it on Tuesdays for the Village Idiots meet. (Not tomorrow, need to change a water pump) :)

I recently took the backseat out of the 53 Studebaker that my wife drives to work everyday..she works at a big Dept. store and with her 25% discount is always bringing crap home..I drive 59 Edsel to work everyday and it is blood spattered and stinks of fish as I run a meat market..I own about 30 cars (they own me) and am looking to buy a Studebaker Avanti, a 48 Cadillac sedanette and a 50 Packard sedanette..I am not rich by any means just seriously addicted..I will walk out into the backyard with a hot battery looking for a likely candidate to drive, its fun....

What I do with my cars...
Some of them get pushed around, a few other get driven around :D
My '64 has been calling the garage it's "home" for the last 3 years orso...

But I do take out the '62 wagon and '65 300 convertible now and then.
Because of the location of my house (in the city) I can't take these cars home because they would be cowardly vandalised, which has happened before already. I'm thinking hard of moving out of this stinking city though.

Here's my '62 wagon, just back from hauling heavy load, a '57 392 and a Dana HD-rearaxle, across country...

I mainly beat the tar outta the Beater and then fix it when it breaks only to kill it again.
The Frankie Flyer will act as tow vehicle. I'm gonna flat tow the Beater to wherever I want. BTW.....I need a front wishbone to make into a tow bar. ANyone have one?

The wife and I usually take our '40 ford pickup camping at least once a year. Throw the gear and dogs in the back, and away we go!

My truck was built to drive, and I do every chance I get.

  17. I drive mine often and frequently. Hot rods weren't meant to be looked at, they were made to drive and enjoy in my humble opinion. I drive mine to all the shows, drive it 2-3 times a week to work, drive it to the grocery, and just flat out drive it to enjoy it and cruise.

Yeah and I can't tell you how many times I saw your car and photographed it before I figured out who the hell you were. I.e., before I stumbled on the HAMB.

Now that I know, I just point and snicker.

    just kidding. ;)

So far mine are all lawn ornaments. So I look at them and wonder how I got myself into so many projects that I can't keep up! heh

I usually build'em drive'em for a while. Someone offers me more money than I can turn down. This time my wife and son both asked me to hang on to this one.

I think I'll listen this time...

I look at mine and wish they were driveable! I sand on mine, paint on mine, bitch at mine, wire and rewire mine. I start it up and run the stale fuel thru mine. I get pissy and walk away from mine, and can't wait to get back to working on mine!
Thats what I do with mine, honestly.

And when it's done, my wife will drive the shit out of it every day, take the kids to school, WalMart, Home Depot and everywhere we go.

........ and then I'll start on mine..........

  24. drive em what else would you do with one?

I mean I don't spend a lot of time at the lake but there are plenty of other places I need to be.

My girlfriend and I take the 53 to the lake often, about twice a month.
This is what cars are for, using them.

YOU CALL TWICE A MONTH "USEING" IT ?????

THATS AS BAD AS THE YUPPIE BIKERS WHO PUT ON THERE LEATHER & RIDE 40 MILES TO THE BIKER BAR

I DAILY DRIVE A CHOPPED '55 F~100, DROPPED AXLE LEAF SPRING ALL AROUND, 389 PONTIAC & 4 SPD... UNLESS ITS RAIN'IN, THEN I DRIVE MY '55 F~350 DUALLY.

EVEN MY DAUGHTER DAILY DRIVES A MILD CUSTOM '62 FALCON DROPPED ON BIAS~PLY's WITH SPIDERS & RINGS.

    TWICE A MONTH ..... THATS FUNNY :D

  26. Oh - I just gently drive mine around a bit and occasionally take it out on the road...

My 52 Chevy truck is a daily driver since 1995 in Texas and S-California. Never owned another vehicle...

We done too many things and drove too many remote places, that I could remember from the top of my head.

Take my dogs out into the surrounding country every day - snow, rain or shine ....

Working on the 48 right now to soon drive around all over this beautiful part of CA.

I feel sorry for all the shiney scratchfree beautiful old cars & trucks, only getting on the road on weekends...if they are lucky

I drive the wheels off my 1928 Ford Model A Woodie that my sons and I built from junk back in 99. I finally got around to parking it well after we got snow this year...then it was a 60 mile ride to put it up in storage...now it's damn near time to get it out again, change the oil, and get it ready for another season of use.

I'd haul groceries with it, take the boys to school, go on vacation with it, take it to the Wheatland Music Festival (where I got reaquainted with Red's 29 in 98, when I was driving my chopped 31 A coupe)..

It's a very practical car, even though it's short on creature comforts. I do have a period-perfect HaDees Junior model heater...and am/fm/cassette....

My 15 minutes of fame happened last year when I went to the NSRA Nats North (after a hiatus of 5 years) and got my picture and the woodie taken with Hotrodladycruzer Denise. Denise was behind the wheel...I think she was impressed with what "basic" really is...she's no stranger to driving with the top down on Project Big Olds....the woodie is no different, with no side windows/curtains...they get in the way of safety---(no visibility)....

I did get turn signals up and running after installing a set of cowl lights....

Idiots today don't know what hand signals are anymore ....

I don't believe in having a car that needs special treatment. Henry made these A's to be driven....

My next car with have flat black paint....It's time to resurrect the ABone coupe....

I'll never be without a Model A Ford....
