Hello, need to know what type of oil to use? Also, starting the car for the 1st time after it has been sitting for 2 years. Please tell me what I should do to make it a success.:D Thanks! Gerardo

I would start by pulling the plugs to squirt a little ATF into each cylinder to soak into the rings. Pull valve cover for a good cleaning of the top of the head and the rockers. Drown it all in oil, especially down the push rods so as to lube the lifters and the camb. Rotate the engine by hand one full rotation after you do all this. Repeat all this daily for a few days.

Finally, pull the oil pan, clean up and reseal it and add fresh 30wt oil.

When time to fire, use starter fluid, and say a little prayer to David Dumbar Buick. He has pull up there, trust me.

You will wat to buy a new fuel pump rebuild kit for when the old one goes. Easy to do, really. Just be sure to get one that has both diaphrams - one for fuel, and one for vacuum to help the wipers - It makes a big difference.

The carb is easy to work on, but be careful for the electric starter switch. The plastic housing breaks easily.

That engine is like an old cartigan: does the job comfortably and without fuss.

Have fun on a cool car,
